*A letter arrived through no apparent means, addressed to Christian in a slanting, almost boyish scrawl.*
Christian
(Erik; you touch this and I take you down.)
*Inside, it read:*
Dear Christian-
Erik already knows this, but he has a tendency to withhold any news of me from you in my experience, so I felt like I'd better make sure. What he probably hasn't told you is that I've recently been married, to one Maximilian de Winter, and I moved to England.
More specifically, I moved into the most audacious and large house in all of Cornwall. And have become, in title anyway, Mistress of Manderley. I'm still not quite used to it. Megan Kroger and I recently caught up, and I'm planning on inviting her up sometime soon. My goddaughter, Scarlett, is up visiting as well.
As beautiful as the house is, and as truly happy as I am to be married to Maxim, I'm kind of lonesome. The housekeeper pretty much wants me dead, as she was devoted to the last Mrs. de Winter, and I'm not exactly friendly with the rest of... well, anyone. You're welcome to come visit, if you don't have anything else to do. I still haven't heard news of Turandot.
I'm planning on beginning work on a new opera, one about the Trojan War. We have this gorgeous piano here, and I've had it moved into the grand hall for now. The acoustics are so great that I get chills when I play.
Write back, or something. -Micaela Heekin de Winter

*Fresh back from the excursion outside, Christian was surprised to find something that was addressed to him--he rarely, if ever, got mail. The name that came with it brought a somewhat sad smile to his lips. After reading it, he immediately set to work on writing one back to her **

Hey look, you actually managed to reply without Erik killing either of us!
*In slightly neater handwriting, his letter was soon replied to.*
Dear Christian-
Feel free to visit anytime--seriously. Manderley's gorgeous. I dunno if Troy will ever get performed (that's what I'm naming it), but hey. I think the only tenor part is Paris, though, and he's pretty much a pansy. Achilles and Hector don't really strike me as tenors.
Briseis is my alto-belt part, and I've cast Helen as my soprano. Do you think those fit? I might change Briseis to a soprano, just for that extra effect when she sings with Achilles. I'm planning on elaborating their relationship, and making her a slave-girl captured from the temple of Apollo, and then she'll be related to the Trojan Royal family, and just altogether awesome. Then Andromache will have to be elaborated and made into my alto--I anachronistically love belting voice. Maybe I'll just keep it as Briseis.
Excuse the blathering. There are these stretches of time when Maxim goes to London and Scarlett is riding (I brought six horses in from Ireland) and I have pretty much nothing to do.
Much love, --Micaela
