*Julian's body ached it was so tense. This was wrong. Not necessarily in the way that the fishman said, but still... He swallowed tightly.*
"I promised him. I promised Erik. I have to try."

"Care care not need. Wait with shark. Care care Erik come home, still need, finish then. Finish now soon...trick-trap dead-face Gran-t-arr. Cry cry cry all, cry cry cry forevereverver."
It hopped down off the bed, jostling Grantaire's corpse, and grabbed Julian's hand, tugging him.
"Care Julian sing-play blackwhite?"

*Julian frowned, but nodded slowly.*
"Yes. Yes I can."
*And yet he made no motion to leave the room.*

"Come sing-play for shark? Apple? Scratch-scratch too. Hurrrrts." it growled out the last and flailed its free arm over its shoulder trying to reach the irritated patch of skin on its back.
"Julian come..."

*Julian clung to the spot, as if only the faint hope this shell that had once been a man held was all that was keeping him focused. He didn't want to distract himself with trivialities. Frowning, he shook his head, though he didn't seem to realize that he was.*
"Don't you see? I...it would need to be ready. For him."
*His lips tightened.*
"I feel like something is wrong. Like...there's something more that I'm not seeing. It has to be ready or the only chance might be lost."

"No No!" The little creature tugged harder on Julian's hand, giving a low, chesty growl.
"Is bad bad finish. Trick-trap! Wait f' Care care Erik. No cry cry cry!"

*What if there was time? Surely a few hours might not be the end. And it would appease the creature, no? And...what if it was right? What if it was the wrong way to go about things? Julian didn't know what was going on anymore. Without Erik, he seemed to have no anchor and was adrift. He needed him. And he worried. Still he straightened forcibly and started towards the door.*
"Just...for now."

It hopped along with Julian's hand still in tow, finding the piano in the main room ((assuming there is one)) and chittering, pushing the man toward it.
"Pretty Julian sing-play blackwhite. Like Care care Erik? Is good good."

*Julian sat at the piano, staring at it blankly. Surely he could play, but his sueauthor is pretty sure he never has... He caressed the keys tenderly, so softly they didn't make a sound. Then he began to play. It started as a slow, sad sound, that of Dies Irae.*
*Then his voice joined softly, like an angel.*
"Dies iræ... dies illa Solvet sæclum in favilla Teste David cum Sibylla..."

The creature gave a clicking sort of purr and, after rolling around on the floor to try and relive the pain and itch in its back, curled up on its stomach like a dog and went completely still.

*Julian glanced back at the strange behavior, but his fingers did not slow, his voice soft.*
"Quantus tremor est futurus, quando judex est venturus, cuncta stricte discussurus..."

The merman lay still on the floor, either having fallen asleep or died--they were the same for the creature.

*Julian paused, turning more to examine the creature more closely, looking for some sign of life, such as breathing.*

Of course, Izame didn't need to breathe, so it wasn't, and it never had a pulse, the food it ate was somehow absorbed, but not digested, so it didn't have any gut sounds either.

*Julian frowned, standing and moving to lift the creature, intending to take it back to his room until he could sort it out.*
