*Julian looked quite serious for a moment, then gestured for the being to follow him.*
"All right, this way."
*He started calmly towards his room.*

The merman chirped and hopped along after, its slitted nostrils opening and closing as they neared the room.
"Dead-face inside?"

*Julian slowed before opening the door.*
"Something like that. Something that was once a man, yes."
*He let the door open on its hinge, but waited for the creature to go first.*

Izame twitched its snoutish nose a bit and shambled inside the room, trilling and looking around at whatever Julian had laying about before hopping over to where Grantaire's body lay and eyeing it curiously.

((Crap, I just realized we didn't move threads. You want to keep it here or take it to Julian's Room?))
"Yes." *Julian started without further exposition.*
"He was a rather unhappy man when he left, but his form is quite suitable for my needs."

((Here's fine, I'm not picky. It's not like just anyone could walk in. XD))
"Unhappy." It repeated and prodded at the body with a thick finger.
"Pretty makes dead-face new again? Move on its own--like trinket shown shark. Show now, make move."

((kk.))
"Something like that." *Julian answered, a bit hollowly. At his request, a small frown formed in his lips.*
"It's not finished. That is, it doesn't move by itself."
*He carefully reached down, inside the open preserved flesh of Grantaire's forearm and pressed a few coils. The dead man's fingers flexed tightly.*

The creature shrieked and jumped back, white membranes flying up over its eyes and its jaws extended and snapping, its lithe little form crouched and tensed.

*Julian looked to him, his frown deepening.*
"Is it not what you wanted to see?"

It relaxed after a moment, fingers flexing at the air as it cautiously moved forward again.
"Pretty startle shark."
From its crouch, it leaned up over the side of the bed and peered and the hardware installed into Grantaire's arm.
"Why Pretty make metal things? Not leave just white-dead-sticks?"

*Julian shrugged.*
"It is harder to get them rigged properly. There still are some bones though."
*He slid his fingers up, holding open the man's chest and revealing natural ribs.*
"I just needed part to be more versatile."

"Why?"
It canted its head at Julian, pushing itself as upright as it was able.

"I need it to last a long time in good order." *He answered simply, leaning closer to the body to tighten some inner working he just noticed.*
"I was worried that the materials would break down with repeated use."

"Will...metal-dead-face think? Like a man?"
It muttered and padded around the bed, leaning way up to examine Grantaire's face.

*Julian quieted, not because he didn't think the fishman could understand, but he wasn't sure that he wanted him to know that his mother was bodiless at the moment.*
"Not exactly. It's more...like a house. For a spirit. The spirit will think for it."
