*No matter how hard he tried, Julian simply could not find a way in. It should have been easy enough, the body's chest open like that. But...he frowned, sitting his ethereal frame on the end of the bed to see what the possible trouble was.*

Grantaire slowly became aware of himself, still unable to move, but he could feel that his throat was parched and that his skin felt dry and tight. His eyeballs felt heavier than they should and something was wrong in his chest. He felt cold all over, and completely numb in places.
He tried to speak, or groan, or make any sort of sound, but it came out a dry, shrill wheeze.

*Julian frowned. That didn't seem right.*
"Identify yourself."
*It seemed unfair that some other soul should have his body without his permission.*

The body twitched a bit and the eyes finally opened. It was hard to see anything, it was fuzzy and the light was, at first, blinding. It gave him a screaming headache and he winced, raising his hand to his temple.
"Monsieur Julian..." he rasped "How long've I been asleep?"

*Julian looked a touch confused. He blinked.*
"Grantaire?"
*That would be...ironic. But then again, perhaps any spirit would sound like him, given the pipes involved.*

"Hm? ...'m thirsty, monsieur. And I feel a bit strange..."
His eyes still hadn't focused and his fingers felt cold and waxy against his forehead, but he supposed that wasn't surprising given he was propped up against cold stone. After another moment, he pushed off the wall, stumbling forward a bit--he felt hollow in places, too heavy in others, it was terribly strange--and reached out in front of himself for the blur that must have been his benefactor, not knowing that the man wasn't solid.
"My eyes are terribly dry, I can't see a thing." a moment later, he realized he was nude and dropped his hands to cover himself. Where heat should have risen on his cheeks, he felt nothing, something was wrong with the front of him, his arms felt the ridges of his open chest (he didn't realize) and he frowned.
"Did you injure me while I was sleeping...? What's going on? And why am I naked?"

*Julian arched his brow.*
"Do you not remember? You asked me to kill you. And I did."
*The subject seemed so casual on Julian's lips.*

"You did a poor job of it then...and that doesn't explain why I'm naked."
The little man's eyes went wide "You didn't...you wouldn't..." he shuddered, that would be too horrible to think about! If Julian thought he were dead and...it was too disgusting to think of.

((Please don't kill me with my milk.))
*Julian quirked his head, not understanding.*
"I did a fine job. Death came for you. I merely improved on what you left behind for long term use. That is why you are naked."

"...what?"
He pulled a face. Well, he had already been pretty certain Julian was not altogether sane.
"Long-term use?" he shuddered again. "That's disgusting--what did you do?"

*Julian sighed. It looked like this wouldn't be working after all. It was good that Erik had a body again, no matter the shape of it.*
"My mother...his soul was displaced. I merely refitted your form to house his spirit for the longterm."

Well, Izame had warned Julian, after all...
"What do you mean 'refitted'? What did you do?" His voice was edged with a little bit of panic now as his vision was finally beginning to clear (was Julian looking somewhat...transparent?). He touched his face and felt nothing amiss there, his arms and legs seemed alright his chest--
"Oh god!" he stumbled back, as if trying to get away from the horror of himself--it followed him, of course--his hands finding the gaping hole of his chest but not finding any blood or gore andhe was simply too horrified to reach into himself to see if his organs were intact or...something.
"What..."

*Julian stood, starting forward before realizing and stopping.*
"I am happy to close that for you, if you would kindly refit my chain. I fear that I am not terribly functional on this plane without it."
*He glanced to the bed where it sparkled in the candlelight.*

"You...what? What did you do to me!" he came forward again, lunging as if to grasp the man's shoulders and shake him, but he fell through and landed on the bed with a grunt, seeming not to have heard Julian's request.
"I'll die with a wound like this!" he whimpered, turning over, not having registered that the man wasn't whole.

*Julian sighed and shook his head. Were all humans like this?*
"You have already died, sir. I've already told you. I merely replaced the major organs, suited you with materials that will last longer than their organic versions."
*He pursed his lips.*
"And if you will help me with the necklace you are lying on, I will close your chest."
