Erik leaned over the ornate black organ that covered a wall of his bedchamber. Several sheets of blank scores lay on the bench beside him and on the floor. His featherless quill scractched as he made several new corrections to his opera. Setting his quill aside he placed the newly corrected music off of the multiple keyboards and began to pound out the opening chords. He was soon lost in the music that was wrapping itself around him.

Marianne gritted her teeth as she made her way through the dark passages. I'm so stupid! she thought. I should never have let the other girls tease me into coming down here! But she continued following the corridor, knowing she would never live it down if she ran back up with her face as white as a sheet.
Suddenly, she paused. She would've sworn she could hear... music...? Her brow furrowed delicately. Music below the Opera House...?

*Raoul raced down the corridor following the path he knew all too well. He had been told by Nadir that one of the chorus girls had been dared to come down here.*
I cannot let anyone go to their death at the hands of that monster.
*Around the corner he suddenly could see the girl edging forward entraced it seemed by some music. Raoul quietly headed towards her, not wishing to frighten her. He laid a hand on her arm.*

Marianne whirled around, startled at the sudden touch on her arm, dropping her lantern with a crash.
"Oh, Raoul! It's you!" She laughed breathlessly and pressed a hand to her pounding heart. "You frightened me."
The dying flame of the lantern cast a warm glow over Raoul's face, making him appear even more handsome. Suddenly the light extinguished completely, and Marianne gasped at the total darkness.

*Raoul looked around in the dark*
"Do not worry it is only the dark. The dark cannot hurt you, just whatever can't stand the light can. We must return"
*He groped around in the dark for her and grasped hold of her waist*
"Oh forgive me...."

Marianne sucked in a breath at the intimate way Raoul's strong hand settled on her waist.
"No, it's alright," she said quickly, stretching her hand out into the darkness to find the wall to hold on to. Her fingers suddenly touched silky fabric - his cravat, she realized. Without thinking, she pressed her hand flat against his chest, feeling the thick, expensive cloth of his jacket beneath her palm.

*Raoul took where her hands landed as encouragement and lean forward. Suddenly the lights flickered back on again. Raoul pulled back*
"...Well that will make find our way back much easier."

((The lights? There's electricity in 1870? XD))
Marianne smiled at him quickly, swallowing the lump of emotions that had risen in her throat. "Yes, yes, you're quite right."

((Exactly))
*Raoul took Mariannes hand and began to careful lead her back above ground*
"Careful I think there is a trap lain here."

Marianne stepped carefully, her dancer's skill making her automatically graceful. "A trap?" she queried. "But who would lay a trap?"

"The same person who you had best avoid coming down here for"
*Raoul continued leading along the passgeway.*
"Most people believe that he is dead but I still have my doubts."

"You mean... the Opera Ghost?" Marianne couldn't keep the surprise from her voice. "I thought that was just an old tale!" She glanced behind her warily. "Is he... dangerous?

*A shadow crossed Raoul face*
"Very much so. Come it is not wise to speak of him now. Those fools who run my theatre will be missing you."
*He began to walk at a quicker pace.*

Marianne nodded at Raoul's tall back, hurrying along behind him. "Raoul, how did you know to come down here?"
