He finally glanced over at Ghislain.
"I'm fine where I am."
Even if he had felt inclined to sneak into the opera house, he really didn't feel like going there with...whoever this was.

((Bien, j'exaggere: Well, I'm exaggerating.))
Ghislain also looked back at him sideways.
"Are you?"
He very much doubted the faint strains of the rehearsal were as easily appreciated over the sound of Ghislain's voice, particularly as he did not stop talking, although he did allow for suitable pauses between the words he spoke.
"Tell me, have you ever rented to an opera-goer? It earns more, you know." Now, the words were simple enough, but the tone seemed to imply an ulterior motive.

He stiffened as unwanted memories of his encounter with the vampire surfaced for a moment. His neck still bore the stitches, but he'd taken the bandage off earlier. He had a feeling it'd leave a scar.
"Yes. I know."

"Oh," said Ghislain knowingly, after a moment. "Yes, they're rather eccentric, aren't they. If you like that sort of thing, and you apparently don't."
He leaned back against the railing again, tilting his head back and scratching at his throat absent-mindedly. He spoke again unexpectedly - not because he was unpredictable in that he would speak again, but because the pause was either too short or too long, and because the words were not exactly standard. "It's better to do them in pairs."

"Eccentric doesn't even begin to cover it," he muttered, though the coolness had faded from his voice a bit.
He blinked at Ghislain for a moment, having not expected the suggestion, though he hadn't been expecting anything really.
"Yeah, right. Most of them are too cheap to buy two of us."

"You're thinking conventionally. Shouldn't your mind be more flexible?" He said this lingeringly, as though he weren't referring to his mind, but because he continued on a different topic, he did not expand upon that as lasciviously as he might have. "Hence the eccentrics. The opera-goers. You've never even thought about it?"

"No."
Considering his rather negative view of sex, and how he thought of it as something to 'get over and done with', he never would have thought of doing what he would consider "inflicting" that on another renter. It was one thing if you were on your own, but something else to drag another along with you.

Ghislain exhaled.
"Lone wolf, aren't you?"
He sounded decidedly pleased, and maybe even amused. "It takes a pack to hunt."

"No, I'm not. I just know what works and stick with it."
Really, he saw no reason to "team up" with anyone else in this business. Who'd want to ally with the competition? (Or potential back-stabber?)

Ghislain waved his hand dismissively. "Lots of things work. Some of them better than others, if it's the money you're after. You are in it for the money, aren't you? I mean, you're hardly in it for the sex." He could barely contain his laughter in the last sentence, as though to say, because who is?

László snorted at that.
"Hell, no. Money, and that's always what it's been."

Ghislain appeared very patient, which, considering he wasn't, was quite a feat, as he listened to the other young man talk. Perhaps this was not entirely worth it... But Ghislain was going to try. "So those who are eccentric prefer eccentric sex, and they pay for it. Naturally, a man who takes you in five minutes in an alleyway near the docks pays less than one you catch exiting the Opera House."

He glanced at the opera house, then back to Ghislain, subconsciously touching a hand to the stitches on his neck.
"True enough. But the opera-goers are a lot more dangerous than you might think."
Like, say, they could be vampires.
"Enough that teaming up isn't a guarantee of safety."

Ghislain did not miss the motion the young man made with his hand; Ghislain rarely missed that sort of thing. In this lighting, though, he couldn't get a glimpse of what he touched, although he was certain it was significant. He suddenly found himself planning some little escapade that would involve seeing him undressed, such that he could see if there was anything there he was putting his hand to. He hid a smile.
"Ah, well. You do have a point," said Ghislain easily, glancing up at the Opera himself. "With some of them. But what if you'd had the man before and knew him?"
The words had just sprung to his lips. Ghislain liked to brag to other prostitutes about his upper class catches, and it wasn't that he'd never met someone at the Opera before, but he'd hardly been with that many. Still, he was willing to bet that in one night at least one person exiting the place would be someone he'd gone to bed with. It was worth a shot.

"Well, yes, that would be different. Repeat customers at least you have an idea of how they'd act." He said reasonably.
László did know about that, as there had been repeats before. Not many, but a few. He quirked a brow at Ghislain.
"Why? Do you know someone?"
