*Eponine, letter safely in her pocket, scaled the tall iron gate with a heavy heart. She landed on the ground with a soft 'whump' and knocked on the door. Aimee herself answered, obviously having hoped it was her husband. Her pretty face fell.*
"Good evening."
"Evening." *Said Ponine, looking the woman full in the face.* "I came from the barricades."
"Oh! Eponine! Oh, my God, have you heard from Marius? Is he alright? Is he still angry?"
*Ponine looked distinctly uncomfortable. She took the letter out and offered it to the woman, Marius's wife, knowing it could well be the thing that made him lost to herself forever.* "I brought a letter."
*Aimee snatched it with trembling hands and unfolded the paper.*

My love,
I didn't want to leave you with nothing but harsh words and silence. I wish I could say these words to you in person, but this will have to do.
Know that you are all I think of, you and the children. I did not go to the barricades rashly--I knew that if they didn't succeed, we would be living in a place far more hostile to ourselves and all that we hold dear.
If I do fall again, just know that it wasn't in vain, that it was for a good cause. For my family.
With all my love, Marius

*She stared at it blankly for just a moment before grabbing Eponine and pulling her inside. They were around the same size...*
"We're switching clothes." *She told the girl as they moved towards Aimee's closet.*
*Eponine stared at her.*
"Come on, I haven't got time for this!" *Aimee grabbed a blouse and skirt and threw them at Eponine.* "Put those on behind there."
*Eponine warily made her way towards the changing screen.* "You sure you know what you're doin'?"
"Just change."
*Eponine didn't take long, being thin enough to fit into Aimee's clothes uncorseted; they even hung off of her thin frame a little. Aimee eagerly grabbed the men's clothing and dashed behind the frame to change.*
*Ten minutes later, they were standing outside: a young woman in clothes too big for her, and a boy with a cap on his head, shading his eyes.*
"Stay here." *The boy told the girl. The girl frowned.*
"I ain't stayin' when there's fighting goi..."
"Stay. Here. Watch after my children, Eponine. Please."
*Eponine conceded and the boy flew off into the night.*
