*Malefica had been inside the room with Dewshine for what seemed like hours. Finally she came out, looking very tired, but with a smile on her face.*
"I have done what I could for her, Monsieur. She is sleeping now. You may see her if you like."

Without a word, Walter scrambled into the room. Dewshine lay on a table near the center, looking very peaceful. If he didn't know any better, he would have thought she was a painting of herself.
He leaned over her and took her almost lifeless hand in his own.
"You're going to be okay. I'm here for you. Always."
A single tear rolled down his nose and landed on Dewshine's lips.
((EW. Walter tears in her mouth. Gross.))

((XD. Still he is cute when he talks to her like that.))
*Dewshine was too weak to react. She was not unconscious anymore, but she couldn't open her eyes, or say anything.
There was a rustling noise in a crib near her bed, and a shrill cry could be heard.*

Walter's head jerked up when he heard the noise. He let go of Dewshine's hand and walked cautiously to the crib. Inside, he saw a beautiful elf baby swaddled in blankets.
"Oh, my," Walter's breath was almost taken away, "you look just like your mother."
The baby continued to fuss, so Walter reached in and, with some difficulty given he only had one hand, managed to pick the baby up and cradle it in his arms. He sat on a nearby rocking chair and gave a glance to Dewshine, whom he thought was still unconscious.
"You are so precious. My name is Walter, and I will always be here for you if you need me. If your mother allows, I would raise you as my own."

*Dewshine was still sleeping. Too weak to open her eyes.
But her son was squirming in Walter's arms. It was a beautiful boy, with brown hair and brown eyes. He had light skin, like his mother.*

The long pull of Recognition could, of course, never be denied, never be severed, and the sire of Dewshine's cub knew when the time of birth had come and gone.
Swift wings carried the dark-minded bird elf closer to the new life born of Recognition. His fledgling.

*Dewshine felt Tyldak's presence in the room. She opened her eyes and looked at him. There was a faint smile in the corners of her mouth.*

The tall bird elf folded his wings around himself like a cloak and adressed Walter in his thick, archaic Elvish accent.
"You will do no such thing, human."

Walter's face dropped for a moment, before he balked at the creature.
"And what gives you such authority?"

*The baby squirmed and tried to reach it's tiny arms against the creature.*

"I am this cub's sire."
His sharp, brown eyes turned toward the infant, and then back to Walter.
"He knows this, of course. You could never be a father to the child of a High One."

*The baby continued reaching his arms against the birdlike elf and started crying again, a shrill cry. Obviously there was nothing wrong with his lungs. Or his will. He wanted to go to Daddy. NOW!!*

Walter was dismayed. This creature had raped Dewshine, and now he returned to claim a child he has no right to. He cringed at the thought, and looked to Dewshine. He saw she was alert and ran to her bedside, still clutching the baby.
"Dewshine! You're okay!"
His eyes filled with tears of joy. He turned to face Tyldak.
"I think you better leave us now."
((He's under the mistaken impression that Dewshine hates Tyldak and he's trying to stand up for her.))

((Oh dear, let's see if we can clear up this misunderstanding )) *Dewshine brightened up in a smile, but it was not directed toward Walter, but Tyldak.* "Tyldak! I thought I'd never see you again!" *She looked up at him with tears of joy in her eyes.* "I gave us a son, Tyldak. Isn't he wonderful?"

Tyldak turned his attention momentarily to the Wolfrider and smiled a bit.
"Lree...he is beautiful."
And then back to Walter.
"Give me the child, human." and he extended one wing and curled it an awkward angle, making a place along his long membraned "hand" for the cub to lay.
