Walter entered the kitchen and raided the cupboards. He found some bread, some cheese, and some salted meats. He sat at a small table in the center of the room and began to snack.

*Merlin entered the kitchen and gave a friendly nod. He was carrying some papers.*
"Ah, there you are. I have made a lot of drawings of your new arm, and I wanted you to see them before we start the work with making it."
*He placed the drawings on the table.*
((I have no idea how to describe mechanical arms in English, so please feel free to godmod what the work plans look like.))

Walter examined the plans. It was a simple steam powered hand that covered much of his lower arm to secure itself. There was no covering to it, so the pistons and inner workings were visible. It had a strangely rustic look to it, despite it being advanced technology.
"Only one thing." He pulled his weapon from his pocket. "You may not see, but I have here my life. The reason I am alive today. Please impliment it into the hand so that I may call it from the fingers or palm as needed. Please, hold out your hand. This weapon is very precious to me."

*Merlin nodded and noted down the changes that had to be done in order for Walter to use his weapon. When he heard Walter asking him to hold out his hand, he extended his hand, studying the other man's weapon with interest.*
"I must admit, Monsieur, that I have never seen this kind of weapon before."

"Its made of polymers that allow it to be thin enough to be essentially invisible, yet completely unbreakable. Through practice and... agreements... I am able to wield it to give it structure, to manipulate it where it would simply dangle for other men."

*Merllin listened and nodded, impressed by the many possibilities such a weapon could hold.*
"Not bad. I suppose it took you some time to learn to master this weapon with all its secrets?"
*He studied the work drawings and made some notes in his notebook.*

"I studied and practiced greatly, yes. However, there was a great deal of something else. Most men, even with years of practice, could make this weapon act no more deadly than a piece of yarn. I have... something more. I wish not to speak about it except to say it is the reason I am not allowed to be helped by magic."

*Merlin nodded and smiled.*
"Ah, I understand perfectly. Even you're born with talent, or you're not. What's important is what you do with your talent. You can rest assured that no magic will be used to complete the task at hand... However there seem to be a small problem. I just talked to the blacksmith, and he told me that he was out of some of the most important materials for your arm. We can order more materials from some of the mineshafts in Bretagne, but it will take a while."

Walter thought of his prospects. Handless, nothing to show for his trip. He would probably avoid correspondence from Hellsing for a while.
"I'm not going anywhere."

*Merlin chuckled with laughter and nodded.* "Good, good. Stay here at the fortress and make yourself comfortable. I am certain that both the princess and Dewshine will do their best to assist you, if you need anything." ((It was not my intention for this sentence to sound so dirty. Sorry!))

((Oh, but both the princess and Dewshine can be as dirty as they want )) "Thank you" He began to think about Dewshine. What Malefica had said... he had to admit to himself that he was not over Dewshine. But did she feel likewise? This lovey-dovey stuff hurt his head. "Speaking of Dewshine, I was curious. I... Nevermind" He went back to eating.

((Malefica is the Princess of Hell. Believe me, you don't want her to be dirty )) *Merlin looked over his glasses and peered at the other man as he started speaking. His gray eyes witnessed of intelligense, wisdom, humor and life experience. Then he smiled and chuckled with laughter.* "What about Dewshine?" *He looked at Walter, curious about what he wanted to say.*

Walter finished chewing the bread and swallowed hard.
"She's just...."
He turned his body to face Merlin.
"When I met her, I thought she was the most beautiful creature I'd ever laid eyes on. I thought I loved her for a moment. Now, I'm not so sure. Part of me still cares deeply, but there's just so much wrong with the whole situation."
He turned again to face his plater of food.
"I shouldn't trouble you with such nonsense."

*Merlin chuckled with laughter.*
"What, you don't think I have been through all that? Ah, I have wandered the earth for a longer time than I even care to think about. The players are new, but it's still the same old game."
*He looked at Walter with a twinkle in his eyes.*
"What is wrong with the situation, young man? And what can be done to solve it?"

"Well, obviously, she's so young, and I really am getting on in years now. And then there's the matter of the... well, I'm sure you'll find out soon enough... the child. She's pregnant. And don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled for her, the problem is that she's not thrilled and it saddens me how little she seems to care about the life of her unborn child. I happen to think it's a magical thing. She obviously disagrees."
