"I'll test the animal blood theory. I don't need blood now, but maybe I can see how, er, palatable it is."

Jekyll blinked. He'd thought John had meant... He shook off the thought, unwilling to dwell on their relationship. At least while Lucy was John. "Good," he said at last. "If you sense a change coming over you, hurry back as soon as you can."

He nodded, delaying a bit as he didn't really want to leave, but...they needed this information. "Take care, Henry." After a moment of hesitation, he departed .

"You too," he said quietly, and turned back to his work. Everything had changed, hadn't it? He hardly knew who Henry Jekyll was anymore. Did it matter? Was Harry right, and all these beings just natural aspects of himself? Or was he being corrupted, slowly, by their influence?

**LATER**
John finally returned to the lab, muttering under his breath in annoyance.
"The nerve of some people."

Jekyll worked still, in shirtsleeves though both wounds were well-bandaged. He frowned over the variously-colored liquids in test tubes and beakers, but thus far he did not feel he'd made any progress. And his confidence had been well-shattered by recent experience.
He looked up as Harris entered, expressing no surprise that he was still John though he would not have been surprised to see Lucy, either. Lucille, he'd have been surprised to see, and then fearful because he could not imagine her coming back for any other reason than to finish him off.
"What did you find?" he asked without preamble.

"Well, animal blood isn't bad tasting, and perhaps takes a bit more to satisfy than human. But...I think one could sustain themselves on it indefinitely."
He sighed.
"I ran into another vampire that had a much different opinion."

Henry raised an eyebrow, shoving his shirtsleeves down and buttoning the cuffs.
"Oh?" he said. "A vampire... more like Lucille?" He wanted to know what had happened, but didn't know if that was delicate. Not that Lucy/John had ever really held back.

"I'd definitely say in her camp. But...this one as a bit. Well, crazier. Lucille at least knew when was the right and wrong time to act out."
He rolled his eyes.
"This woman was off her rocker."

It was, of course, impossible to tell if "off her rocker" was due to vampirism or a general personality deficiency. "Did she harm you?" he asked, both concerned and curious.

"No...she was just annoying and insulting."

"Hmm. Well, at least you learned something about animal blood. Even if Lucille will not agree to comply. It seems our only chance is to eliminate her from the mix--that is to say, reintegrate her with your main personality."

"I want to get rid of her more than I can convey...but how? I wouldn't want her to accidentally get split from me and end up being an independant being...that...wouldn't be good."

"No," Henry sighed, his thoughts fairly obvious, under the circumstances. "No, I... Perhaps it is time I admit defeat. I have caused nothing but harm. And to no purpose whatsoever."

"Maybe...if you gave yourself some distance, refreshed your mind before trying anything else, you could find a way. I've heard that helps."
