*Adi sat quietly with Nicki in the seat beside her. Most of the kids in her class already thought she was strange, and it's not as if the freezing spot that was always next to her helped things. It seemed only a select few could see her brother, and the student body didn't contain a one of them.*
*She waited for class to start, a bit intimidated like any eleven-year-old at boarding school on her first morning.*

The class didn't start as of yet, but already, there was talk amongst other students. One girl could be overheard speaking to another. "I heard the new teacher's so cute that they made him become a werewolf to counteract!" Another boy shook his head. "Nuh-uh! He's a werewolf because he got into a fight with one and although he won, he got bit!" Another girl just shook her head. "No way... I heard that the werewolf pretends to be a cute teacher!" The bickering seemed to happen much like any normal class would before it started, but it was quickly shushed as Remus Lupin stepped into the room, setting his case down, followed shortly by his wand and a cage.
"Good morning, everyone. I trust you all had a good night's rest and are here to start fresh?"

*Adrienne was the only one not included with the camaraderie of the class, who responded affirmatively and without much order (but as a general whole) to Lupin's question. Rather she observed them intently, once in a while making eye contact with Nicki as if to speak with him silently.*

"It's our first day, so I'm going to lay down a few ground rules. I'm all for having fun once in awhile, but there's also times where I'm going to ask you all to take what you see here quite seriously. Class, this is Defense Against the Dark Arts, and allbeit some of your classes, likes Transconfiguration, seems silly, this class, on the other hand, is quite important. You may come upon a day where you will use this. And I would hope that it never does happen, but it will."
Lupin offered a smile to them all as he stepped forward. "That's not to say that you won't have fun, though. Your first lessons are going to be relatively easy ones, and ones that might just interest you." He set his hand down on the desk of a student whom obviously didn't get much rest, letting it tap on the surface before the kid quickly snapped awake, staring up blearily at the professor. "Before we begin, is there any questions at all about anything? What the course will be like, when it ends... anything from any of you?"

*There was immediately a cacophony of inquiries, not limited to 'Did you really teach Harry Potter' from the more magically-informed students, 'Why aren't you teaching at Hogwarts anymore,' 'What are we studying this semester' from one of the academically-minded, and 'Why is your tie askew'.*
*There were more, but none you could hear. The only student raising her hand in the fray was Adrienne.*

"Why class, how did you forget your manners and not raise your hand?" He spoke with a chuckle. "I'll get to all of those questions and then some, but it appears we have someone whom does remember their ettiquite."
He strolled down the middle aisle and stopped nearby Adrienne's desk. "What is your name, and what is your question, my dear?"

"Mademoiselle Adrienne d'Enjolras... and are you really a werewolf?"
*It was the question that everyone in the room wanted the answer to, but nobody had asked. Well, being Adrienne and her father's daughter, she was Fearless. She didn't break eye contact as she asked this.*
*A mousy boy with glasses at the back of the room appeared to be watching closer and listening harder now that it had been asked. He also looked as if he was trying not to look like he was doing so, only making it more obvious.*

"Adrienne." He nodded his head, and for a very brief moment, his smile faltered as he turned, walking back to the front of the classroom. "The question Miss d'Enjolras asked me, in case any of you were falling asleep..." His eyes locked back upon his dozer before looking back up. "Was if I really was a werewolf." He stopped speaking, looking about very seriously.
"The answer to that is indeed... I am a werewolf." He gazed about the classroom. "I assure you all that you're quite safe. It is something that I have worked out with your headmistress."

*Most of them weren't fazed, some of them thought it was cool, Adrienne was intrigued and the boy at the back was gazing with some measure of apprehension mixed with hero-worship. There was a very, very pale girl in a large sunhat and long sleeves who looked a little disgusted, as if she'd smelled wet dog.*

He gazed very gently to the pale girl, speaking very softly. "You will not be harmed, I promise." He then leaned back up, walking back to the front of the class, smiling broadly. "Well, is there any other questions that you'd like to ask? Perhaps this time, with hands raised?"

*A particularly tall, skinny bespectacled girl raised her hand but couldn't wait to be called on to ask.*
"Are we going to have a real lesson today?"

"My dear, are you ready for a real lesson?" He asked, looking to her in curiosity, not letting the fact that she tried to sound condescending bother him in the slightest. In fact, he seemed almost amused.

"Yes." *She said petulantly. Adrienne rolled her eyes and made eye contact with the invisible twin again, and groups of friends shared Looks.*

"Alright, my dear. Perhaps you could be our first volunteer? Please, arise, and grip your wand at the ready." He walked back to his desk to grab his own. "This is something that I intended on teaching about... four weeks into the course. It requires a lot of preparation, but if you feel you are ready..."

As Lupin turned around to grip his wand, he couldn't help but move his hand to his shoulder, closing his eyes a bit as he waited for his pupil to either accept or deny wanting to do this one on one. His mind slowly drifted away temorarily from the class as he thought about what had happened. Surely, the wound had healed from when he had been assaulted the night previous, but yet, it was as if it were still there. It didn't ache or burn; it was merely in his mind.
