*In the heat of the Paris summer, Headmistress Athenaïse-Josette de Chenevier lounged in her office, idly stroking her cat, Blanchette. It was hiring season, and she needed a new teacher for her Défense contre les Forces du Mal course. Their longstanding teacher had just retired after twenty-three years and she'd had a few applicants, but nobody who stood out.*
*The school itself stood as always, a chateau in the middle of the city. It was hidden between numbers on the Rue de Rivoli, unnoticed by those without express invitation to enter. The Jardin des Tuileries was its front lawn; the city was its grounds. It was an eclectic building that couldn't seem to decide what era it wanted to be from or which style of architecture it wanted to display. There were vestiges of Medieval, Gothic, pre-Revolution, Baroque, and Victorian scattered all over. The building mirrored its faculty and its students, a mixed bag of different species and nationalities; this was Paris, and Chevrepoire, being the epitome of the 'Verse magic in Paris, was just as eclectic and strange as its mother city.*
((Feel free to send the kiddies.))

Remus Lupin had made his way into earlier that day. Originally, it was for travel; he didn't want to head out of England to save his life, but he was forced to. Quite a few people suggested he make the trip and actually find some life outside his books and make some new aquaintances. Afterall, Hogwarts couldn't hire him back on under the knowledge of whom he was, and no parent was ever going to subject their kid to a situation of utmost danger. But alas, he without much regret had resigned that post and allowed himself to be sent to Paris. Still, the headmaster seemed to have winked when he cemented the werewolf's travel plans.
"But of course." Remus had said to himself as he took a wizarding paper as he walked along the city streets. "An opening. Defense Against the Dark Arts. I should have known. That sly wizard..." He chuckled as he tucked the newspaper into his briefcase before making the long trek to the school known as Chevrepoire. Upon arrival, he asked several students where the headmaster's office could be found, and now, he found himself standing outside the door, rapping on it lightly with dexterious fingers.

"Entrez." *Called a cool voice from inside.*

The werewolf stepped inside very gingerly, finding himself slightly nervous at this. Surely his reputation would precede him. He almost questioned why he would allow himself to take a chance such as this one. As he looked up, he did a doubletake, expecting someone far different than the fair lady that sat before him. "Good afternoon. Are you the... head... mistress of the School? I'm afraid that you and I have never met before."
Remus set his briefcase down, brushing out the sweater that he was currently wearing. It bore Lupin's favorite shade of green.

"Oh, you're English, then?" *She asked, standing. She spoke with just the traces of an accent.* "Bon, do sit down. I assume you're here about the position? I'm Athenaïse-Josette de Chenevier, and yes, I'm the headmistress." *As she spoke she gestured with her hands, fine-boned and expressive.*
*She was used to the surprise. It wasn't even an issue anymore.*

"Why thank you." Remus took a seat in the chair, settling himself in as he gazed over at the Headmistress with a soft smile on his face. "Yes, I am English and yes, I'm here for the position. Though I must say, it was quite unexpected. I originally came to your fair city for a bit of vacationing." He kept his eyes upon Chenevier, hoping that the look of shock from earlier had escaped his features.

*She sat in her large, high-backed chair and settled into it, stroking the cat (who was sleeping on her desk).*
"And do you have a name, Monsieur English-here-on-vacation-yet-applying-for-a-job?"

That in itself was a relief. The other not knowing his name was a sign that perhaps noone knew whom he was. But of course, his name itself could bring him the very trouble that being a werewolf could possibly wrong. With a chuckle, he answered the inquiry. "My name is Remus Lupin, mad'am." He offered her his close-to-boyish smile before speaking once more.
"I have never heard of this school before. I assume it must be quite new, combined with the fact that I never really heard all that much since I keep to my studies..."

"Oh, no, Chevrepoire is an old school, but small." *She said, her voice holding a hint of an edge.* "It merely hasn't enjoyed the prestige that schools such as Hogwarts and Beauxbatons have, despite offering an education of equal or greater quality. We pride ourselves on accepting the students that other schools eschew, resulting in their disdain."

"Quite an interesting way to run a school." Lupin mused before offering her a bit of a smile. "So tell me, as I'm curious. Does this also include the disadvantaged students, as well? Ones that the other schools would pass on because of certain... conditions that they would deem as dangerous?" He wasn't about to pass on any hints of his own conditions, but he was quite curious how she would respond.

"If you're talking about lycanthropes and vampires, then yes." *She said plainly. No need to hide anything; she was proud of the fact that their school was an acceptive environment for all her students.*

"You do not fear them attacking other students? I am curious how the school controls it." He seemed to have a very content smile as he gazed to the headmistress. He was already beginning to like this place quite a bit.

"It's an environment of trust. Our lycanthropic students are excused from classes and provided with appropriate lodgings the week of the full moon; vampiric students are kept supplied with animal prey. I am of the opinion, however, that an environment wherein a human is not treated as an animal is the most important factor in keeping said human from acting like one."
*She raised an eyebrow.*
"Why the interest, monsieur Lupin?"

"I... well..." He let out a bit of a nervous laugh before he sighed, speaking up softly. "It's not something I really talk about out loud if I can help it. It's... complicated. But I'm a werewolf, mad'am. A lot of the time, this usually ends with myself being told that I'm unhirable..."

*She shrugged.* "I fail to see how such a condition would affect your teaching ability. Now, about the position itself; what is your past teaching experience?"
