*Lady Éowyn looked up at him, sighing deeply.*
"Rohan exists, my lord. I am from Rohan. It lies near Lothlorien, and the Gray mountains and Môrdor. I am a Rohirrim, my people are skilled horsemen."

*He seemed unmoved.*
"On the off chance that the man was an idiot or a brigand, I stopped by my room."
*He unstrapped a long cylindrical case from his back, opening and procuring several maps. He held them out to her.*
"I found none of the names that you speak of. Please...show me."

*Lady Éowyn looked at his maps and studied them with interest. They were all of the countries in the south. Countries she had hardly heard speech about.*
"These maps are from the countries in the south, my lord. My country lies to the north. Very far away to the north. Our sailors navigate by the help of the Polar star, or North star. And we are related to the Vikings, if you have ever heard about them."

*Vlad frowned.*
"My lady..." *He spoke low and evenly.*
"This is where we are."
*He pointed to Paris.*
"This is were one could travel in a week by horse."
*He drew a circle on the map with his finger.*
"Please explain this to me."

*Lady Éowyn looked up at him in despair, saddened that he didn't believe in her either. He started acting like the persons she had asked for help when she first arrived. Tears filled her eyes.*
"I have already tried to explain: I don't KNOW what happened. I was storming away on Windfola, we raced over the meadows, and toward the gap of Rohan, and I think we passed the wizard Saruman. We almost rode him down... And then we jumped the fence... I felt something hit me when we passed the wizard. Some kind of force or something.... And then there was this...light."
*She shook her elegantly formed eyebrows in confusion.*

*Vlad was unmoved. It was not the first time he had dealt with a woman that was not getting her way. Years and battle and blood had hardened him to it.*
"I believe that you might believe such things. But I know that there is no place here within a week's ride by that name. Perhaps..."
*He tilted his head.*
"...you might have hit your head?"

*Lady Éowyn gasped in indignation and stood up. Her eyes were dark and sparkling and her cheeks were flushed. Very quickly she unsheathed her sword and held the edge against his neck.*
"My lord," *She said calmly in a voice as cold as ice.* "I am not used to people not believing my words. You who are so proud of your own honor have no right to step on mine. I have never told a lie in my entire life, and I don't intend to start now."

*Vlad took a step back, but calmly, his hand on the hilt of his own blade, although he did not draw it.*
"My lady, I am only working with the facts that are given. I have done everything in my power to serve you in this, but perhaps it is time that I leave you to other resources. I am obviously no longer of use to you."

*Lady Éowyn looked up at him hurt. Then she lowered her sword and sheathed it again.*
"I'm sorry, my lord. Please forgive me. I am not used to people callling me a liar. In Rohan the punishment for lying is death. When you started acting like you didn't believe in me as well, it felt like I had lost my only friend in this place. And that hurt."

Life is pain. Best you learn it now while the wounds are not physical.
*Vlad remained stiff, his hand still on the pommel of his sword.*
"Nevertheless, there is little else I can do for you, the situation as it is. Perhaps it better if I leave you be to find your own peace."

*Lady Éowyn looked up at him, knowing she would never see him again. The pain in her heart increased to a level she could not bear.*
"My lord. I can not find peace anywhere before I find my way back to Rohan. I have taken up too much of your time already. It is better I am on my way. Since nobody else will believe in me when I say that Rohan exists, I will continue to look for it myself."
*She started collecting the few belongings she had brought with her to the hotel. A map of Midgard and Rohan fell out of her bag when she was packing. It landed in front of Vlad's feet.*

*Vlad felt for her, but what else could he do if she would not see reason. He bent deftly to retrieve the map, glancing at it in passing as he offered it to her.*
"My lady, you might need this."

*She looked up at him for a moment, as if she wondered why he didn't try to stop her. Then she showed him the map.*
"You see here, mylord? This is Rohan. And this...."
*She pointed to a place far down on the map.*
"....is France."

*Vlad humored her, looking at the map.*
"My lady, I have never seen a map like this before."
And it doesn't change the fact that you couldn't ride the distance in three days.

*Lady Eowyn forgot all about her packing and came closer to him. Her side brushed accidentally into his, as she showed him the countries. When she leaned over the map, her golden curls brushed against him. Her bright blue eyes sparkled with joy, and she explained and pointed eagerly. She loved Rohan just as much as he loved Romania.*
"This is the kingdom of Rohan. It lies on the top of a hill, and we can look down on all the land around us. Here we have our horses, the best and fastest of Middle Earth. The horses are our pride. Nowhere else can you find a horse that runs faster and holds longer than in Rohan. My Windfola can run like the wind. We have many enemies. Uncle Théoden have to be on guard, constantly. The biggest threat lies here, in Isengard. The wizard Saruman is a slave of the evil lord Sauron, who wants to conquer our world. Twice they have tried to invade Rohan, but we Rohirrim fended them off. And this is the Shire, where the hobbits live. This is Rivendell and Mirkwood, both inhabited by elves."
