*It wasn't much, but Johanna didn't mind. She began to unpack, wondering a bit more about the man who had hired her. What was the point of his remark about never losing his prey?*

Morangias, after seeing to some personal business, was feeling a bit anxious for entertainment, and the lure of a new girl in the house was too much to resist.
He mounted the stairs to the servants' quarters at the top of the house, just under the attic, where the air was hot and stiffling as it rose up from the kitchen. He rarely came up here, and the young man who had been working on the landing quickly vacated the area when he knocked on Johanna's door.

*Johanna went to open her door*
"Oh, hello sir."

He leaned on the frame at the shoulder of his missing arm.
"Finding yourself in comfort, my dear?"

"Yes, thank you."
*Johanna wasn't stupid. Maybe he would leave after amoment of chatting, but that was highly unlikely.*

"Very good. When you've finished up there, I will give you a tour of the house."
He muttered, but didn't move out of the door frame.

"I- I'm really pretty much done..."
*She had to make her mind up, and quickley. Was she overreacting? Maybe, but it still didn't feel right.*

"Well then come along." He smiled a bit and offered his arm.
"You said you were not quite seventeen?"

He led her down the stairs, his eyes never leaving her small and shapely form.
"You've seen the foyer of course. Your duties will begin in the kitchen tomorrow, so I'll show you there first."
The turned sharply down a narrow corridor which opened up into the large kitchen area where a young woman was preparing vegitables and meats for the next day. She gave Johanna a sorrowful, warning sort of look and went quickly back to her work.
"Of course, you will usually be using the servants' stairs. Unless you manage to make your way into Head of House, then the run of every room and entertainment will be yours."

*Johanna noted the look*
That can't be good.
"The Head?"

"Oh yes, I mentioned earlier. That's the job that's open. My last left in rather a hurry. He was a small and skitish fellow. Don't you remember? I asked after your reading and numbers."
He showed her the library, which he had earlier mentioned to be available to all his staff. The titles ranged from the mundane and the outright boring to the exotic and, well, banned.

*She looked about, impressed. All the books she'd never been allowed to read...what her guardian had granted her permission to see was very limited.*
"It's wondeful..."

"It is a very fine library. Anything you could possibly want to read is contained within. Even those things which you have only secretly wondered about, or secret even to yourself."
He turned her back up the hall and showed her his sitting room, where he entertained what he refered to as "upstairs guests".
There was a secondary parlor that looked little used and then they decended to the lower parts of the house. Strangely, the Master bedroom was kept down here, he indicated its closed door.
"This is the only room in the house you must always have permission to enter."

*She couldn't help blushing*
