*Figwit pulled himself up after Eden, not once glancing up her skirt. At the top, he bowed slightly and ushered her in. It was a simple structure, but sturdy; the platform was graced with a home which blended in with the trees, almost as if it had grown from the cleft in the mallorn tree on which it rested.*
"It is not much," *Figwit said gravely.* "But I do not require much."
*He followed Eden inside, where a hammock served as a bed. There was a table, a few chairs, and a small cooking area. Along one wall were a few old volumes. It was homey, but not lush.*
"Are you hungry? Tired?"

*Eden looked around, most of her lamentations forgotten. At his question, she looked back to him, shaking her blonde hair about her shoulders.*
"Oh, no. I'm fine. Now. That is..."
*Her lashes fluttered.*
"You have a really nice place." *She answered awkwardly. This was getting annoying. Annoying in the sense that it wasn't so bad and that she really kinda wanted to stay with him. You know, for a while. And it was nice, more like what she was accustomed to, stark and functional.*

"Thank you. Most would find it lacking," *Figwit said.* "But I find nothing more beautiful than Lorien itself; how could I improve upon it? But there is little to entertain a guest, I am afraid."

*Eden shrugged.*
"It's functional. I like that."
*She smiled and stepped closer to him, taking his hand.*
"And you're plenty entertaining all on your own."

"I have a feeling that most people find me... boring," *Figwit said.* "Or perhaps merely functional."

"Screw other people." *Eden answered, a little too quickly.*
"They're stupid. I think you're..."
Sexy. Hot. Totally yummy.
"...rad."

"Rad." *Figwit tested the word.* "I'm unfamiliar with your vernacular. But if it means you like me, then I'm glad."
*He smiled.*
"So what should we do?"

*She approached him, taking his hands.*
"I means I like like you. And this place. Very much."
*She realized she was blushing and quickly released him.*
"And we can totally do...whatever. I mean....I just appreciate you putting me up."

*That made him happier than it seemed reasonable to expect.*
"That makes me happier than it seems reasonable to expect," *he told her.* "I have had no visitors but you. I'm glad you're here. Though I am sorry about your family; I hope they're well."

((Have I mentioned that I kinda love Figwit? I kinda love Figwit.))
*Eden brushed off his good wishes.*
"Whatever. They didn't like me anyways."
*She stepped closer, as if wanting a hug but she was too proud to admit it.*
"They'll be better off without me."
*She pouted.*
"If they're not dead, that is."

*Figwit placed a hand on her shoulder, not knowing how familiar he was allowed to be with human children he didn't know.*
"I'm certain they wouldn't be," *he said.* "How could anyone? I should be sad, to find you suddenly gone."
*But on one level, he was not terribly surprised by her dismissal of them. He loved his mother as he loved everyone--no more, no less. He felt duty bound towards every individual, but had no special connection to any of them. Eden was young, and it seemed reasonable that her sense of responsibility would develop in time.*

*Eden looked away, but didn't shun his touch.*
"My mother hates me. Because I'm not good enough for her. That's why she had another baby."

"I'm sure she doesn't," *Figwit said softly.* "Sometimes... parents have more than one child. It is because they like children, not because they hate the ones they have."

"No." *Eden answered plainly, stepping away and making her way to the hammock and crawling up in it.*
"She told me. My daddy had to give her another baby because I'm not good enough to be the new Guardian. That's what she said. That I would never be good enough. And now she has one that is. She doesn't need me anymore."

*Without thinking, Figwit crossed the room and eased himself lightly, with none of the clumsiness of the typical human-hammock interaction, next to Eden.*
"If she said that," *he said softly,* "she is wrong. I cannot imagine you're not good enough for anything one could wish."
