*A nurse accompanied little Adi back to her house; the judge had decided that, seeing as Enjolras had a larger house and was in control of the funds that would pay for Adrienne's needs, the child should live with her father. Belladonna would be given visitation rights. They knocked on the door.*
*The butler answered and showed them to the drawing room. Adi fidgeted in her starched, white dress, wanting to go to her room and see Papa. Enjolras entered the room in his shirtsleeves, vest unbuttoned and cravat loose, looking vaguely worn out. His face lit up when he saw Adrienne.*
"Adi-bug!" *He cried, running forward to scoop her into a hug.*
"PAPA!" *She shrieked happily, giggling and wrapping her pudgy little arms around his neck. He kissed the side of her head.*
"I've missed you, Princesse." *He informed her, cradling her head as he held her.*
"I missed you too, Papa."
"You're coming to live at home now; did they tell you?"
"Uh-huh!" *She nodded enthusiastically, pulling back to look him in the face.* "I'm gonna live here with you an' Bertha an' Rousseau an' the maids an' my dolls an' stuffed animals, but Mama's gonna be on a long vacation."
*He nodded, feeling bad about lying.* "Yes, Mama's on vacation." *He smiled and kissed her forehead again.*
"Oh, it's good to have you home, Adi."

Grantaire, who had not been given any warning that there was about to be a little one running around the house (though he vaguely remembered Enjolras saying he had children), had been stalking about the kitchen, trying to steal a morsel of Bertha's latest apple desert when he heard the girl yell joyously for her father. He quickly snatched the entire pan of crisp--no time to cut a single serving!--and padded barefoot to the front entry where the excitement was taking place, catching the girl's enthusiasm about who was staying in the house with her.
"Don't forget about me." He grinned around a mouthful of desert.

*Adi blinked at him, squirming down from her father's arms and walking straight up to Grantaire.*
"Who're you?"
*Enjolras chuckled in the background. This could be interesting.*

The little man crouched down to the girl's level and forked up a little mouthful of the stolen treat, holding it out to her.
"I live here with your papa, too." He grinned. "My name is Renard, but you can call me Grand R, if you want."

*She bit the dessert, giggling.*
"Bertha's not gonna be happy." *She warned him, dimpling.* "My name's Adrienne, but you can call me Adi."

"She'll never know it was us!" He winked conspiratorially, then gave Enjolras a mock pointed look. "If no one tells her. Right, Adi?" he chuckled and gave her another bite, then straightened with a grunt.
"If your father would have told me you were coming, I would have put on shoes! And a cravat."

*Adi grinned.*
"Papa didn't know I was coming; we surprised him!" *She exclaimed, turning to Enjolras.* "Right, Papa?"
*Enjolras smiled doofily and scooped her up.* "Exactly, Adi-bug. It was a big surprise."

"Ah! Well then, I don't feel quite so bad for not getting all fancied up." he smirked at Enjolras' expression.
"Do you like horses, Adi?"

*She nodded, turning around as best she could to him. Enjolras assisted her by angling her better.*
"I have a pony named Waffle at the other house." *She said, referring to the chateau in the Loire river valley.*

"Well, you need a horse of your own, like a proper lady--here in Paris. Well, just outside." He grinned again and rubbed the back of his head.
"And riding lessons." He glanced up to Enjolras "She's not too young for that, I think."

*Enjolras was about to protest when Adi gave him The Face and he was helpless to resist.*
"Oh, I suppose." *He conceded. Adi beamed.*

"Good!" Grantaire grinned wider and set the pan now only half full of desert down on a sideboard.
"Then when your father goes to his next 'meeting' you and I will go pay a visit to my father."

*Adi grinned and reached out her little arms, clearly wishing to be held by Grantaire.*
"I like you. You're not boring like Papa's other friends."

The little man took her, hefting her a bit with a mock grunt.
"Oh my goodness! You're so big! Your papa must be very strong to be able to carry you with no effort--and yes, his other friends are very stuffy or dead. I'm not like them at all."
He shifted her to one arm and grinned at Enjolras, explaining. "My father boards horses just outside the city. I'm sure he won't mind giving Adi a few riding lessons and letting her 'adopt' one of the pastured studs." Of course, he hadn't seen his father in several years and they weren't exactly on good terms, but...well it would all work out.

"Ah." *Enjolras nodded, still looking a bit wary, but only because Adi was his only child, his baby girl.*
*Adi grinned.* "Yeah, Papa's real strong."
