*Haldir was sitting in his office when he heard a slight knock on the door. He lifted his head.*
"Come in."

Tyldak followed the Wolfrider cub where she led, his pace slowing more as they went, his limp becoming more pronounced as the remaining links of his chain dragged from his ankle, leaving a painful weal around the bone-thin limb where the shackle rubbed up and down with his steps.
He assumed Dewshine would present him to this...Haldir, and he remained silent in tongue and mind while he looked this elder elf over.

*Dewshine smiled proudly and looked up at uncle Haldir.*
"Uncle Haldir, this is Tyldak. Tyldak, this is Captain Haldir, the Highest Commander of the Elven Army of Lorien."

The bird-elf could see that this tall one was an elder even to himself, and he inclined his head respectfully, grinding out in his arcane, harsh accent "Lord Haldir...in need of...rest."
But it was faster and easier to Send, and he gave the elder as much information as he dared about his imprisonment. Not the reason, no, but he gave Haldir an idea of his pain and long-suffering darkness--and the insolent manner in which the cub called Dewshine had treated him.

*Haldir bowed his head in the same polite manner. After all, he belonged to the oldest royal family in Lorien, even though he was not a king.*
"I will see to that your wounds are taken care of. My sister Leetah is a highly respected healer, and I will send for her as soon as you are brought to your lodgings."
*He looked the man over, understanding he must have suffered for a long time. And he furrowed his eyebrows when he heard of the disrespect the little cub had treated this man.*
Don't worry about the cub. I will punish her for disrespecting you... She will get the worst punishment I can give her: taking care of some other than herself.
*He turned to Dewshine and said in a stern voice.*
"Dewshine! Take this man to one of the guesthouses on the ground, NOT a treehouse! And you will stay there with him and take care of him. It is about time you start making yourself useful."

*Dewshine looked up at him in disbelief, a full pout on her gentle lips.*
"But uncle Haldir! That's not......"
*With one look at his stern face, she knew that the battle was lost. A frown showed in her face as she muttered.*
"Well, all right! I WILL take care of him."
*She mumbled as she opened the door, waiting for Tyldak to follow her.*

The bird-elf thanked the battle-hardened Lord and turned again to follow the Wolfrider cub, if a bit reluctantly. To hear that she would be his caretaker was more punishment to he than to her, he thought, but said nothing. He was too tired to argue, and could take his leave, or work himself into the cogs as he pleased when he was well again.

*Dewshine's sweet little face darkened when she heard Haldir's voice inside her head:*
And treat him with RESPECT!!!
Yeah, yeah, whatever
*She thought back and walked quietly out the door, and out of the castle. She walked slowly, so Tyldak could follow her speed.*
((Do you want to post a new thread called Tyldak's Treehouse, or should I?))

******AFTER ANASTASIA'S DEPARTURE*******
*Haldir sat alone in his office, leaned back in his chair with his eyes close. His work, his responsibility, his burdens, felt heavier than ever. Never before in his life had he felt so tired.*
Why is it that I can't find one woman to fall in love with? Oh, I have loved, deeply and faithfully.
First my beloved Queen Tearbird. A sweet, forbidden love. But I loved her. I was blessed to be loved back, for one single night. Then she was taken away from me. Brutally murdered. And a part of me died with her.
The second woman I met was Katya. I know her name is Anastasia now, but for me she will always be Katya. How taken in I was with her shyness, and her cute manners. She was kind enough to return my kisses, but I think she grew tired of me. So with her, it was only a brief romance. Not the deep feelings I had with Tearbird. But I had no right to expect that a human can love as deeply or truly as an elf. So that was my own fault. She was not to blame.
*Haldir opened his eyes and looked out of the window. The sun was shining brightly on the outside. But his heart was troubled, lonely as he felt, so he couldn't feel joy even in listening to the birds.*
Maybe it would be good for me to get away from a while. Take a holiday. I could see into the matters in Ehonile again. I never got any reply on the letter I sent to Icarus, so I guess I am on my own. But I have been in battles before. I should be capable of taking care of myself. But before I start my journey, I should leave a note for my men.
*Haldir picked up his pen and wrote something on a piece of paper. He placed the note on his desk, hoping that someone would find it. The note read.*
"Because of certain events in my life, I need to take a short holiday to collect my thoughts and decide on how to go on with my life. I will return to my duties after a while. My sister Leetah will take the lead of the army while I am gone, she is familiar with the duties of the Highest Commander of The Elven Army of Lorien. Best wishes, Captain Haldir of Lorien."
*When the note was written, he stood up, grabbed his backpack, which he always kept packed, ready for traveling on short notice. Then he placed the note on his desk, and walked out the door.*
