*The party carried on in the grand hall, the dinner not yet begun. The hall was decorated beautifully, as they would be outside for the wedding, which would be even more extravagant. A crowd gathered around the lovely bride. Nobody seemed to have noticed that her daughter had gone missing.*
*The music swelled. Micaela appeared at the top of the stairs in a dress that wasn't particularly lovely but which wasn't a total faux pas, trying not to trip on heels (which she wasn't accustomed to wearing). She'd made sure that what she was wearing wasn't grander than what Megan was, and that she didn't have quite so fashionable a hairstyle: a simple bun. She wore a serene expression that belied her nerves.*
*From the top of the stairs, the Master of Ceremonies caught everyone's attention with a few loud bangs of his walking-stick, before calling out over the crowd:*

"Ladies and gentlemen, Mrs de Winter!"
*Though before Micaela could begin her descent down the magnificent staircase, the doors that opened out to the darkened lawn flew open, assisted by the driving wind, and a figure appeared in the doorway. Lightning flashed, silhouetting the seemingly ghostly apparition. Soaking wet, her dress clung to her thin form, and her wild black hair blew in the wind. The face, starkly lit as it was, resembled that of a corpse; the cheekbones protruded in the thin, pale face, and the nose, for all appearances, had rotted away completely. In her hands, was something that any frequent guest to Manderley two years ago would recognize: the name board of a boat. Her boat.*
Je Reviens
*It seemed that Mrs. de Winter had indeed returned.*
*There came a collective horrified gasp from the crowd. Several people screamed, and a few more delicate ladies even fainted. Pina faltered, and took step back, dropping the board and now looking just as traumatized as some of those in the crowd.*

*Micaela blinked, and then her blue eyes widened. That was part of a boat. That was the name of the boat that used to be attached to the buoy in the bay. Pina had come back with part of Rebecca's boat. And the crowd had mistaken her for Rebecca's ghost, what with her entrance, and...*
"Oh, God..." *She murmured to herself, though she had no issues with the 'ghastly apparition;' she knew quite well it was Pina.*

UUUAAAAAAAAGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
*Maxim's face paled and his wineglass slipped unnoticed from his hand. It was her. It couldn't be her. He could feel her eyes on him, accusing, vengeful. He uttered a strangled cry and turned, bolting up the stairs. He hardly even noticed when he passed Micaela at the top- he was too occupied in getting away. Then hiding. And getting drunk. Very, very drunk.*
*Pina, of course, hadn't been looking all that vengeful or accusing- more scared and confused.*

*Micaela attempted to grab his arm as he passed but missed and ended up chasing after him, huffing angrily. That had to have made things worse, running away from poor Pina like that... she severely hoped that Megan would take care of her daughter because Micaela had a runaway husband to deal with.*
"Maxim! MAXIM." *She called after him, trying to get him to wait in the corridor but failing and having to run after him in heels.*

Megan pushed her way through the panicking crowd.
"Pina? Sweetie? Pina, what happened?"

*Pina dropped the board, wordlessly shaking her head. She pushed past her mother and made a mad dash through the crowd, made easier by the fact that they all seemed eager to get as far away from her as possible. Tears stinging her eyes, she chose a door blindly and slammed it behind her.*

*Micaela groaned.*
"I am so sorry about Maxim, he just... agh. I don't know; I'm sorry Megan." *She said exhaustedly.*

"I didn't even see where she'd gone-"
She bit her lip, trying not to cry.
"Idiots..."

*Micaela didn't hesitate before wrapping her in a huge hug. Well, as huge a hug as she could, considering she was, in heels, a good four inches shorter than Megan.*
