Hallie took the bag from him and let it drop onto the floor under the counter with a satisfactory thud. Then she opened the bag and dropped a plastic measuring cup into it.
"Thanks a bunch," she said, smiling sweetly.

She inspected the bag and found a small hole in the bottom.
"Huh. I'll have to take care of that, then." Hallie went into the kitchen and walked out with a tray. She lifted the bag into the tray and slid it under the counter again.
"That should do it," she said satisfactorily.

She noticed him standing there and then moved aside as if to make room for him behind the counter. "Do you want to help me out? I've got a large order that I need to have done by three."

"Sure thing." She smeared some flour on the counter and laid out a lump of dough and a rolling pin. "Okay, I assume you know how to roll it into a crust?"

"Sweet. Just remember not to make it too thin or let it rip." Hallie demonstrated the proper method with her own rolling pin. "Gently, like this."

He followed her lead, smiling shyly at her every few minutes.

Hallie looked over at Benjamin's crust. "I think you're good for now."
She pulled out a pie pan and put her own crust inside of it. Then she pulled out another one and put it in front of Ben. "Now put your crust in here and I'll show you how to pinch the sides and all that."
