A Letter. For Christian.

*A letter sat in the mailbox for Christian Daae, in the post office where letters of business and fanmail were directed. Said letter was addressed in clear, somewhat unruly handwriting written on nice paper.*
Christian-
I'm not dead yet, though I'm quite convinced you are. Invitations to Liam's christening, letters, the invitation to Megan's wedding... I'm seriously wondering whether I should send the bloody gendarmes down there after you.
On the first note, I've had another baby. I told you I was pregnant, right? Anyhow, I've named her Megan Ellen Ann, and she's to be called Ellie. I was going to make you her godfather, but considering you've gone off to God-knows-where, I'm not sure whether I should.
The pre-eclampsia came back, of course. Worse than the first time, but it didn't have time to get really bad before I went into labor. Ellie was born way too early; we thought she was going to die. I was told not to even name her. But of course she did live, and she's perfectly healthy now.
I'm so ridiculously happy. Leaving Paris was the best thing I ever did... I loved the Opera, but I didn't... it just wasn't right, somehow. But here, with Maxim and the children, I feel so... right.
Liam's getting bigger and louder and more boyish every day. I don't think he'll be much of a singer but he likes to hear me plunk around on the piano. You haven't met either of them yet, though.
You really should come up here for Megan's wedding. You would get to see the children, and you would get to see Manderley at its finest... I've managed to get this organized without the hand of Danvers, which is good. She can't very well try to make sure Rebecca's here in spirit when Megan and I are in charge of everthing. Well, me mostly, as Megan's busy doing bride-ey things and anticipating getting married.
I don't think I really missed that stage. I just would have worked myself into a frenzy and gotten ridiculously nervous, especially if I'd been marrying Maxim. I had no idea Manderley was... well, what it was, when I married him. And then we pull up and the 'family country house' is a 16th century grey stone mansion, and suddenly I'm the ever-scrutinized Mrs. de Winter... it was a lot to take in. If I'd known beforehand, I think I would have gone batty.
Write back. I miss you.
Micaela
