"I like the noise of people," he hummed and padded along, keeping up with the taller man.
"What do you like to eat?"

"I prefer to consume things warm and raw... any sort of meat can sustain me, so long as it's fresh. Of course, finding something so late is difficult..." And many people were in bed now. His hope was to find a wandering pet or even one of the sleepy homeless and let into the unfortunate with Mortimer as a witness.

"I could catch something for you--the butcher is closed--as long as it isn't a rat, because that would make Julian sad, I think. Only there are loads of cats, and they are quite easy to catch because they listen when I ask them to come to me."
He smiled brightly and clicked up at the dark-skinned man, seeming eager to please.

"Is that so? I don't see why not..." he said, sounding amused. He normally had to catch his own, usually a stray dog, but a cat or two would be enough to keep him until he could make the next night, and hopefully, Marlow would show himself.
"Catch me a cat, then," he said, folding his arms over his chest, grinning.

The little creature gave a trill and nodded, padding off into the nearest alley and crouching down near the wall in the dark, giving a few soft, inhuman whistles and clicks and hums and came out a few moments later with a pair of scraggly, scrawny cats perched intertwining on his shoulders.
He grinned.
"They'll go to sleep as soon as you touch them." He didn't think animals should suffer, after all.

Maleo's grin had split wider, beyond what could have been normal for a human face and picked a cat up, watching it go limp in his hands. "An interesting effect, Mortimer... you'll have to show me how you've done that..." he said, stroking his hand over the soft fur.
He made short work of both cats, keeping the mess to a minimum by draining them as he consumed the meat, leaving little else but bones and organs, eating them under the cover of alley shadows to prevent too many pairs of eyes from catching him. It was very little, but flesh was flesh and blood was blood. He'd make it to another night.

Mortimer waited patiently, and when Maleo emerged again, he hopped from foot to foot and chirpped like a bird.
"What shall we do now? I've already ridden the train, and swum in the river--and there, the sun is coming up just now--but I'm not tired at all."

Maleo looked to the sky, seeing the pink and purple starting to emerge from the unnatural horizon of the city's buildings. "I need soil and shade..." he said, backing up until he was hidden in the alley again. "I cannot be caught in the sunlight," continued Maleo, peering down the alleyway. How far was the Opera again?

It wasn't far--just behind them, really.
"Okay." He took the man's hand and pulled him back along to the Opera again, inside and through a maze of corridors that ended them in one of the small spaces near the dorms where Mortimer had hidden himself and watch people when he was "younger".
"Are you tired? Which room is yours?"

"I stay just upstairs," he said, pointing to a small staircase that lead into dingier parts of the opera. "My room is small, but if my Uram is not present, you are welcome to stay." Or he could stay if he wanted to be eaten...

"I could stay for a little while--then I have to go back to see Erik and my tank. I know he will finish it soon for me so that I can stay home more--or anyway, he would like me to stay home more. Hmm. Okay. Anyway, I think I would like to see you without clothes."
He beamed, quite innocently and let the man lead him up.

Amused by the little man' enthusiasm, Maleo grinned, leading the way upstairs. Still keeping his own key to the room, he unlocked the door first and peered inside. No sign that Marlow was in there tonight... he sighed heavily and opened the door fully. "An unusual request, but who am I to not fill it? Especially after you provided dinner for me," he said with a smile. ((To be continued in his dormitorio))
