*Dude, this was awkward. Brandi stood on the steps of the door in a nice period-appropriate dress, trying to make a respectable impression. Yes, she wanted this, she kept telling herself. She's too perfect...kittens...more than one would be so helpful. She shifted her weight and lifted her hand to rap the heavy knocker. Now all she could do was wait. Again. Splendid.*
Man, I really hope she's home.

Luckily, Bonnie-Marie was just passing the door on her way back from the dining room when Brandi knocked. Opening the door just enough to poke her head through, she asked, "May I help you?"

*Brandi just stood there staring for a moment. She didn't look as cat like as she'd been expecting. Blinking, she managed a smile.*
"Um, hello. I'm really sorry to bother you, but...I'm looking for Bonnie-Marie."

Bonnie-Marie blinked back. "Oh, I'm Bonnie-Marie. Um...won't you come in?" She stepped aside so Brandi could pass.

*Brandi's eyes lowered shyly as she stepped in.*
"Thank you."
*She offered her hand abruptly.*
"I'm sorry. I'm Brandi. I was just hoping to talk to you about a proposition."

Bonnie-Marie shook the girl's hand, becomming more confused by the second. "A proposition? What sort of proposition?" She truly couldn't think of anything Brandi might be talking about.

*Brandi lowered her eyes, suddenly looking even more uncomfortable. Ok, so this was a little weird.*
"I...I have a problem. And I know that we've just met, but I am really hoping that you can help me out with it."
*She bit her lip and gestured to the parlor, hoping they could sit and talk about it.*
"Is...now an acceptable time?"

Bonnie-Marie was puzzled, but also happy that she was not the most uncomfortable person in the room for a change. Leading them into the parlor, she picked up a silver teapot that was perched prettily on a serving table near the door. "Would you like something...?"

Um, yeah. To get you knocked up and get the hell out of here. This place gives me the wiggins.
*Brandi smiled but shook her head.*
"I'm fine, really."
*She swallowed, not really knowing where to begin.*
"Um...like I said, I have this problem. I...I..."
Just put it out there.
"I can't have children."
With Cry-Baby. For War.
"And well...I was hoping that...if you would be willing..."
*She met Bonnie-Marie's eyes empathetically.*
"I would compensate you in anyway that you need."
*She dropped her gaze again.*
"I'm sorry. That was a lot. At once."

Bonnie-Marie peered at Brandi curiously as she spoke. If I would be willing to do what? And she would compensate me? What? Suddenly she gasped and dropped the teapot with a loud crash. Tea spilled all over the floor and the teapot skidded along the hardwood, coming to rest against the wall.
"Oh, I'm so sorry!" Bonnie-Marie cried, rushing over to retrieve the teapot. She was glad to be facing the floor. She couldn't have meant that. There's no way she could have meant that.

*Brandi quickly grabbed a linen napkin from the service and fell to her knees next to the woman, aiding in the cleaning.*
"No, I'm sorry..."
*She was frustrated, having never been very good at this. She paused, but her gaze was still focused on the tea that was soaking into the napkin.*
"I have no right to ask you to help us conceive. I'm sorry to be such a hassle. I was just hoping..."
*She shut her eyes bitterly for a moment before shrugging.*
"It's not your problem. And...I'll pay whatever you need to get the rug cleaned."

Every nerve in her brain seemed to focus on one word: conceive. So that was what Brandi had meant. Bonnie-Marie breathed heavily, confused and horrified by the situation. Why would they ask her to do this? Why wouldn't they go to somebody who was supposed to bear children for other people? They had people like that, didn't they? People who did that on purpose, for a living?
Bonnie-Marie didn't do that. Why would anyone think Bonnie-Marie would do that? Did she look like the kind of person who would do that??
After dabbing at the tea with a napkin for several tense minutes, she chanced a glance at Brandi. The other girl looked so sad and embarrassed, both emotions Bonnie-Marie could relate to easily. She obviously didn't want to be asking this anymore than Bonnie-Marie wanted to be asked.
"Why..." Her voice was barely above a whisper. "Why do you need me to do this?"

((Poor Bonnie-Marie. I promise, I don't think you're a slut. )) *Brandi's body went rigid. She'd upset the girl. She hadn't wanted to do that. But...but they needed bodies. She quickly tried to sort out if they could find anyone else. But she couldn't come up with a solution. But neither could she come up with a good reason for the girl other than 'well, you used to be cat-shaped so I was hoping to cut some corners with a multiple-birth' and she figured that that particular answer wouldn't go over really well. She swallowed nervously, unable to meet Bonnie-Marie's eyes for a moment. When she did, they were prickled with tears. She wasn't sure she could do this, that she could ask this of her.* "I...I was just hoping..." *The tears started to fall and she quickly lowered her face, wiping at the bitterly. Her voice was soft and shaky.* "I just....I didn't know who else to turn to. I was told that you might be...sympathetic. But I see now that..." *She shook her head.* "It's so selfish of me. I'm so sorry."

((Oh don't mind her, she's always a mess. I'm gonna go kinda of OOC for this post because I think we need to get this moving along...))
Bonnie-Marie was overcome by sympathy for this girl and a sudden desire to help someone in any way she could. Everyone else she'd ever tried to help had been let down or had just gone on to get what they wanted without her. The newly-married Miss Scarlett which I'm having Bonnie-Marie know about for the sake of this scene was only the most recent of the many people who didn't need her at all. Maybe if she did this, she could finally be of some use to someone. Maybe she could finally be of some worth to someone.
"What...what do I need to do?"

((Thanks, because I was starting to worry that I might just leave. And that would be awkward. Sorry to break your canon.))
"Wait..."
*Brandi looked up, her eyes red and cheeks tear-stained.*
"You mean...you're not saying no?"
*She almost didn't believe it, but was quick to answer her question.*
"We just...we need you to carry the baby. We'll care for you the whole pregnancy, if you like. Everything can be paid for. And if you'd like fiscal compensation, that's completely available. I mean..."
*She tried to slow to breathe. She hoped she wasn't scaring the girl again. She tried to keep her voice soft.*
"It would mean the world to us. I can't express the gratitude that we would have for such a generous act. That is...if you're willing."
