Ghislain raised his eyebrows. "And have you ever tried them all together? Books and sex at the - and blood - at the same time?"

"All three? No, not at once. Though now I think that at some point in the future I'll have to try something in the library."

Ghislain smiled, eyelids half-lowered. "Well," he said. "Invite me."

He reached out and lightly brushed his fingers across Ghislain's cheek.
"I'll keep that in mind."

Ghislain did not think he would - hadn't expected him to - but the gesture was nice. He glanced down at the coverlet briefly, almost as though shy, although there was nothing in his manner to suggest that, and then slid past him to reach for his clothes, putting on his shirt lazily and at a leisurely, very slow pace.
This was partly because moving quickly made his head spin, and partly because he just felt like it. Rushing would imply he wanted to be out, and he didn't.
"Tell me something else," he said, as he pulled one sleeve over his arm. "Sunlight is out, so I take it that bit of the myth is true. What else is, or isn't?"

Daniel watched as Ghislain dressed, appreciative of the way the young man moved, the way he was put together.
"Not a whole lot else, for me. But in my time here in Paris I've discovered different...hmm...breeds of vampire wandering around, all of them with different weaknesses."
He slowly licked his lips, thoughtfully.
"I have no idea what causes the differences, only that they exist."

Ghislain was still intrigued, tossing his hair back - reshaped recently from rather too much contact with a bedspread, or someone's rough hands - and glancing over his shoulder as he started rolling up the cuffs of his shirtsleeves.
"Breeds? Like breeds of dogs, all the same thing with variations? One sort of dog more prone to skin diseases than others, or... Or different things altogether? That is to say, is there one strand that you all are part of to some degree, or are you genuinely different creatures?"

"Ha! I know a few elder ones that'd be insulted by that comparison. But I suppose you could put it that way. Vampires are still vampires, at the core--still need blood, still immortal. But one could be chased away by the cross but not another, while one would only be less powerful in sunlight but I, I would turn to ash."

"Miss it?" asked Ghislain, leaning back slightly so he could do his shirt buttons.

"Not really. In the beginning, I did, but that faded away as I discovered all the new things being this gave me."
He rarely even thought of the sun anymore.

"Mm, the blood, you mean? What else is there?"

"I can read your mind, if I felt like it."

He smiled. "Oh? Do you?"

He stretched, not really needing to, but he still like that simple little action and still induldged in it.
"I admit a bit of curiosity."

"Would you like me to tell you? I'd never to lie to someone who would know I was lying."
He leaned back on the bed, leaving his pants on the floor and half of the shirt unbuttoned, propped up on his elbows.
