*Leetah smiled proudly and offered him to sit. She quickly arranged a nice meal for them, and something good to drink.*
"Rest, my son. This is your home too now. Before I start telling you about what has happened here, how much do you already know? I don't want to tell you something you know already."

*Figwit was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, though he ate sparingly, as always.*
"I know that conditions at the time of my birth warranted my removal," *he said.* "I know that a tyrant died, a good queen was murdered, and that a human now holds highest office in Lorien."
*He spread his hands.*
"News does not travel quickly, however. That is all I know."

*Leetah nodded, pleased he had heard as much.*
"I will not bother you with facts you already know. What you don't know, is that the murdered queen, Tearbird, was my best friend. She was married to the tyrant, and they didn't have children."
*Leetah found an old letter and placed it in his hands.*
"This old document is written by the father of the tyrant king, Orduag. As you can see for yourself, he dismissed Orduag as his heir to the throne, and gave his power to Tearbird. So she had the real power of the country. It also claims her right to chose whomever she wish to inherit the crown after her. Her last wish was that you would become the next king of Lorien."
*Then she placed another document in his hands, as her eyes were filled with tears.*
"And this document was written by Queen Tearbird the day before she was killed. It was the last thing she ever wrote. I had told her that I was pregnant. I was not married to your father. She immediately adopted you and named you as her successor. The next day she was murdered, and I feared for your safety, and escaped to save your life."
*She tried to calm herself from the painful memories from the past, and looked at him again.*
"And now, my beloved son, I must ask you: Are you willing to fulfill Queen Tearbird's last wish and accept the Crown of Lorien as your own?"

*The news was overwhelming. Not what he had expected. He examined the documents carefully, with steady hands but wide eyes.*
"I don't understand," *he said.* "If Tearbird had the power, why was Orduag allowed to reign? And if I went the heir, why was it so dangerous for me to remain? I somehow doubt that the crown is just waiting for my return."
Or that I am ready to wear it.

*Leetah looked at him with a serious expression on her face.*
"Orduag was a regent only in the name. Someone had sent him a ring. As soon as he put it on, his mind was darkened, and he slowly turned into madness. Your uncle Haldir, my brother, examined the deaths. There were certain clues that Tearbird and Orduag was murdered by the same person. The human king of Lorien. I feared for your life, and escaped. And still you have to promise me that you will be careful. Never be alone with them."
*She looked him deeply in the eyes, filed with motherly love.*
"But I promised your father this: No matter how much I loved Queen Tearbird, no matter how much I want to fulfill her last wish, the choice of wearing the Crown must be your own choice. I will never press you into doing something you don't want to do. No matter what you choose, I will support your choice."

*Figwit looked up from the documents.*
"I will be careful," *he assured her.* "But tell me--how are things now? The human rulers. How do they fare?"

*Leetah smiled wryly.*
"He is slowly turning into madness. Seeing dead queens everywhere. His conscience, if he has any, is getting to him. She is smarter than him, in a sly way. Beware of them both, don't trust any of them. She is trying to charm the kingdom into loving her, and at the same time fighting me. She obviously conciders me to be a threat against her power. But I have never wanted power on my own behalf."

*Figwit frowned. Which wasn't all that different from his normal expression.*
"I don't understand how this happened," *he said.* "How the kingdom fell into the hands of humans."

*Leetah looked at him with a serious expression on her face.*
"The human that murdered the king admitted to it, and claimed he did so to rescue the queen. He claimed that the queen had been murdered by the king, and that he didn't manage to save her. Thus, he made himself a hero. And since only Haldir and I knew about you at the time, they made the human a hero and selected him to be a king. But somehow I think they will soon regret. The human are getting more mad with each day. I fear for the future of Lorien."

"Then I fear, as well," *he said.* "But what can be done about it now? Do they know who I am--what I represent?"

*Leetah smiled and shook her head.*
"They know that I am a threat to their power. I have never been willing to use the titles they claim to bear. But I have tried, as good as possible, to protect you. I don't think they know who you are or what you represent."
*She smiled to him, with her eyes filled with love.*
"If you decide to get your throne back, we are many who are willing to help you.
My brother Haldir, your uncle, is the Highest Commander of the Elven army. All the men under his command are extremely loyal to him. He was Queen Tearbird's confidante, and will be loyal to you. All his men, the entire army, will follow him.
My cousin Wildfeather, who still is a very young girl, is a Dark Elf, the best Shaman in Black Magic Lorien has ever encountered.
My best friend, Sebastian, is a demon. I have special plans I need to discuss with him, to ensure the safety of Lorien.
If anything goes wrong, we have a hidden treasure: My friend Malefica. Witch, Guardian of the Holy Grail, part goddess and part demon. A princess in both heaven and hell.
And I, myself have great powers. I am the best Shaman in White Magic Lorien has ever encountered."

"It seems I was born into an illustrious family," *Figwit said.* "I have no ambition to rule. But I must know that the kingdom that was left in my hands is being ruled fairly. I will stay, and ensure that it is so."
*He swallowed, gazing out the window for a moment.*
"Madame... Who is my father?"

*Leetah smiled and looked into his eyes.*
"I am your mother, Figwit. You don't need to call me Madame."
*Her eyes were distant as she thought of Don Juan. She smiled.*
"Your father is a human, but brave and noble of heart. His name is Don Juan Demarco. I was very young when I met him."

"Of course, Mother."
*Figwit digested this. He had known there was something odd about his parentage, but wasn't certain how he felt about being half-human.*
"You are no longer with him?"

*Leetah smiled lovingly. She had felt a bit disappointed when Don Juan left her, but it was his own choice, and she didn't want to bind him to her.*
"I am very fond of your father, but he is a man who can't stay for long in one place. A wanderer. And I have my responsibilities to take care of. The well-being of Lorien. It couldn't last."
