*Krolock gave the kind of look that only a parent would give their son--a mixture of loving, annoyed, and amused*
"I'm sure you have, my dear boy."

"Rather lonely, until my recent hire."
*He gestured to Cal*
"Cal. She and I are the only ones in this castle now--Sarah and the other vampires have disappeared."

*She turned around and waved in a friendly manner.*

**NEW NIGHT**
*Krolock, back to his old self, was quietly sitting in one of the many sitting-rooms of the castle, reading a book that claimed to be an informed 'Vampire Encyclopedia'. He was finding it to be a rather highly amusing read.*
"'Supposedly'? Oh, how informed, indeed."

*Belle had been at the castle for a few weeks now- willingly, this time. She'd discovered that really, Krolock wasn't so bad. His son was another story, but that wasn't on her mind right now. The wickedly sharp scissors in her hand were not intended for the vain little ninny, no matter how much he might deserve it.
No, tonight, she was after the elder vampire- not out of spite, but because his hair was really, really getting on her nerves. She'd tried subtle hints that hair was not supposed to flip over the collar of your spooky cape. That letting it get all raggedy and split ended was less than attractive. That, really, he'd look so much better with it a bit shorter, but of course, she'd been completely ignored. It was as if he didn't even notice he had hair. Well, then, if he didn't, he wouldn't notice if several inches went missing.
As casually as possible, she sauntered into the room.*

*Krolock turned a page, not noticing her*
"What? Dracula did NOT do that."

*She bit back a small laugh as she made her way behind him. His obliviousness was endearing.
There it was- his hair was still hanging over his collar, looking absolutely ridiculous. Hopefully she'd be able to do this without him noticing. She snipped once, letting it fall into her hand, then peeked at his face. He didn't seem to have moved. She cut again, and again, so that now it barely brushed his shoulders.
Perfect. It was still long enough to be impressive, but short enough that it was less ratty and no longer hung over the collar.*

"Daddy, have you seen my-"
Herbert froze in the doorway with his mouth open in shock. He made a small, terrified noise.

*Belle looked up, startled for a moment, but then she grinned triumphantly at Herbert. Scissors in one hand, and a fistful of hair in the other, for someone who cared as much about their hair as Herbert, she would have looked terrifying.*
"Much better."

*Krolock scoffed at something in the book*
"Ridiculous!"
