*Sylvia pursed her lips gently and then parted them. She was still quite confused.*
"I...Do you know what it means, sir?"
*Her lashes finally lowered.*
"I just did not know if you specialized in dream analysis as well. Surely it must be something about my old employment...the changes that I'm going through...my fears..."
*She looked up to him, her brow furrowed.*
"Right?"

"It is quite possible. On the other hand..."
*He wondered how to put it*
"Have you heard the legend of the Nosferatu?"

*Sylvia paused for a moment and then sighed. He promised. She pursed her lips and lowered her brow.*
"Vampires? I thought you promised not to make fun of me. I know it is foolish that I was frightened...surely you're not suggesting the bogeyman?"

"If anyone is making fun of you- which they probably are not- it is the man who calls himself Dracula."
*He frowned*
"It's an old legend- Dracula, son of the Devil, king of vampires."

He's serious.
*Sylvia's expression grew sobered. Her lips parted gently, having a hard time in understanding.*
"But sir...surely you aren't suggesting such things here? In Paris? That's the sort of thing you tell a child to make them behave."
*She looked up, her lips pursed.*
"And besides...what business could the king of all vampires have in France? Shouldn't he be off it the mountains somewhere?"

"You misunderstand me, Sylvia. I never said that I believed. However, madmen will often assume the guise of famous archetypes- clowns, bats, demons..."
I should know.
"I think you might be in danger."

*Sylvia sighed and rolled her eyes. Pursing her lips she looked up to him, with a sad expression.*
"Jonathan...I don't want to be. Why can't it just be us? Just together..."
*She twisted a strand of his hair around her finger and then stroked his cheek gently.*
"I don't want to be afraid. I want to be strong, brave. For you. So I don't demand so much from you. I want to be able to provide for both of us, not only take."
*She bit her lip and looked away.*
"Besides...it was only a dream."

*Crane decided to surpress his fears.*
"You're probably right."
*He kissed Sylvia softly*
"Perhaps I am more concerned for you than is healthy."

*Sylvia nuzzled her face against his with a soft smile.*
"I love you. Your concern warms my heart. I just don't want to be a weight around your neck. I want to be your equal, someone that can support you in your endeavors."
*Leaning back against the pillow, she shut her eyes briefly.*
"And you are here with me. You keep me safe."
*She looked up and smiled coyly.*
"Nothing can hurt me when you are with me."

I certainly hope that's true.
*Crane gently tugged at Sylvia's nightgown*
"Is your leg feeling better?"

*Sylvia was caught slightly off guard by the tug at her clothing and shied away from him, the physical memory of her violation fresh in her instincts. She recovered quickly though and lifted the gown gently for him to inspect it.*
"It aches...but no more than the first time."
*She smiled softly and traced a finger over his cheek.*
"And this time the mark is a gift and not a curse. I cannot repay what you have done for me, but I will make every effort to try."
*She looked to him tenderly.*
"And yours? Does it hurt terribly?"

"I've felt worse in my lifetime."
*He reached out a hand and stroked Sylvia's cheek*
"You know that I would do anything for you."

*Sylvia's heart had the most wonderful ache when he said such things. How could she be so lucky? She leaned up to kiss him gently, wrapping her arms around his neck. She smiled languidly at him.*
"And I will do whatever I can to keep it that way, my dearest Doctor. There is no way I could be so lucky twice."
*She slid her hand down his back and bit her smiling lip.*
"And I assume you will still have me proving my devotion then? To show how grateful I truly am?"
*She nuzzled his cheek affectionately.*

"When you're feeling better, perhaps. I am not entirely heartless."
*He pulled the blankets back up*
"I'll stay with you if you want to try and sleep."

*Sylvia smiled softly and laid back on the pillow with a slight pout.*
"You just want to see me eternally in your debt."
*Her jesting tone was accented by the smile that curled back into her lips.*
"But you would stay and watch over me?"
*Her words were hopeful, but then her brow furrowed.*
"Did you...have somewhere else you needed to be?"
