*Adrienne climbed in through the window, her feet hitting the floor carefully so as not to alert her father. She'd seen him go through the front door already- she's have to hurry if he wasn't going to catch her. She wrestled her way out of the boy's shirt and pants that she'd stolen from her friend Thomas and pulled on her petticoat and unnaturally easy corset, her maid stepping in quickly to lace her in and help her into her dress. Finally, she pulled her boyish cap from her head, sending her long hair down in a cascade of curls as she threw it over by her boots and clothes before shoving them unceremoniously under her bed. Shaking out her long curls, she sat down quickly in a chair and was looking up with a perfectly charming smile on her face when the door finally opened.*

"The breeches are sticking out from under the dust ruffle, Adrienne." *He said as he walked in, using her full name for emphasis.* "And I saw the hackney leaving the back drive."

*She didn't bat an eye, of course, and just shot him her most dazzling Daddy's-little-princess smile as she got to her feet.* And how are you today, Daddy?

**ENJERS**
*His face was stern.*
"Adrienne Marguerite d'Enjolras, what were you out doing?" *He asked flatly.*

Nothing, Daddy. *She looked up at him with her big, wide, innocent blue eyes.* Do you not trust me, Daddy?

*He looked at her plainly.*
"Adrienne, you were out. Now you're going to tell me where or so help me you will not leave this room save to go to school for a month." *He wasn't yelling--he'd never in her entire life yelled at her-- but his voice was low and obviously authoritative.*

*She looked down, the picture of obedience, while she gathered her thoughts. He always caught her out when she was lying- but he'd be angrier if she actually told him the truth.* I just went out for a walk, Father.

"In whose clothing this time, Adrienne? And where to?"

In my own clothing, of course, Father. *She looked him straight-on, her eyes wide and innocent.*

*He grabbed the breeches from under her bed and held them up. His eyes were dark and intimidating.*
"There are two explanations for these, Adrienne. One is that you yourself wore them, and you can guess the other one... the one I'm far more reluctant to believe of you."

Well, those are my clothes, aren't they? And I said that I went out in my own clothes.

"Adrienne, I don't remember any men's shops other than my own sending bills."

They were a...gift. From Jacqueline, the NPC who will actually back me up. *She took the breeches from him and began folding them up.*

"Why were you wearing breeches in public in the first place?" *He ground out, keeping his tempter in check thanks to a long practice of reeling it in.*

Because it's much safer to look like a boy when I go- *She stopped and spun around with a smile.* Because they're far more comfortable to ride the horses in.
