*He raised an eyebrow at him, then laughed humorlessly.*
"Schmeicheln Sie sich nicht."

((Ouch.))
*Renn glared at der Tod.*
"Oh, he does. And he's going to be nice. Or I'm withholding sex."

*Now he was glaring at the other man*
"I changed my mind--I do have a few things I'd like to say to him."

That's not playing fair, woman.
*He heaved a long-suffering sigh.*
"I can be nice."
*He'd crossed his arms again, that gesture that usually meant agitation*
"And I think I have a few words after all as well."

"Good."
*She smiled with fake cheerfulness.*
"I'll let you talk. I have a feeling I'm very much not part of this conversation. But, you know, the apartment has very thin walls. I can't be blamed for overhearing...

*Rudolf looked as though he'd much rather have Renn stay, but he merely nodded at her words.*
"I'll try not to shout, though one should ask him to promise that rather than me."

*He bristled at the comment*
"You make it sound like it's a habit with me." *He hissed*

"Hey. I said nice. And it is a habit with you, love." *Though her tone was stern, there was still a hint of teasing affection.*
*She gave Rudolf an encouraging smile before disappearing back into the kitchen. Telling herself she should be sure that nothing happened, she stood very close to the door, where she could hear what was going on.*

*Rudolf stood awkwardly by the couch, now unable to meet der Tod's eyes. So, he stared at the floor, ceiling, the furniture--everywhere else BUT the other person in the room.
He didn't know what to say, and was actually afraid to speak lest all the emotions he felt at the moment would be heard in his voice*

*There was a long, drawn-out, awkward silence that was finally broken when Tod impatiently moved into the living room.*
"Well? What were you going to say? Or are you wasting my time?"

*He winced a bit at the sharp tone of voice, but then quickly brushed it off. Why should he have to be the one that cowered? He wasn't one the one that had done wrong, here.
He straightened his posture and once more met Tod's gaze*
"How could you?" He said in a surprisingly soft voice. "How could you abuse my trust the way you did? How could you pretend to care when all you wanted was HER?"

*Rudolf's tone may have been soft, but the questions were like a series of blows*
"I did no such thing, only what I promised. I said I'd be there when nobody else would be--did I lie? No!"
*He'd moved closer without realizing it, standing at the opposite end of the couch from Rudolf*
"You are mistaken if you think I didn't care about you BOTH."

*It took a measure of will not to step back when der Tod got closer. He wasn't going to show weakness--not this time.
He gave a hollow laugh at the other's words*
"You tricked me. You were only hanging around me because you were frustrated with my mother. I suppose you thought I'd be a lot easier, huh?"
*His voice was rising without him realizing it*
"Well rest-assured, I'll never be that trusting again!"

*He'd covered half the distance to Rudolf before stopping in his tracks, momentarily feeling chagrined when Rudolf recoiled at the approach. The feeling didn't last long against the other man's words*
"You really think that? You obviously don't know anything at all if you feel that way."

*He inwardly cursed himself for flinching away from der Tod. He staunchly stayed rooted to his spot, however, refusing to back down any more than he already had done*
"Filling my head with nonsense and telling me to rise up against my own father is a strange way of showing you care about me." He spat.
