*Eponine carried Alexei in, holding him tight. She sat down on the bed.*
"I haven't been a very good Mama, have I, ma chere?" *She asked, placing one thin hand on his cheek.*

"Unsinn. Sie sind eine sehr gute Mama." *He murmured to her, just glad that she was there.*

*She had picked up a vague idea of German, and though she couldn't speak a word, she could understand most of what he said. She soundlessly held him close, tears leaking out of the corner of her eyes.*
