*Eponine had picked up three newspapers and opened them up to the advertisements section and waited for Renn, glancing over the advertisements. They would have to calculate their price range, and then pick one close to the Opera House within that. It didn't sound too difficult...*

Renn looked over Eponine's shoulder at the paper.
"See anything promising?"

*She waved for Renn to sit down.*
"There's this one... Madame du Barry lived in it, and it's near the Louvre, in the first Arrondissement. the Garnier is in the 9th, so it wouldn't be far at all to walk to work. Plus there are quite a few nice cafe's around, and it's near the Jardin des Tuileries. The rent is reasonable, in our range. It's quite spacious. I think it actually may be perfect."
((French idea of spacious and American idea are VERY different...))

Renn looked to where Eponine was pointing on the paper.
"Who's Madame du Barry?" she asked, the fact that she was an ignorant American showing through. "What's the Jardin des Tuileries? Garden of... toiletries?"

*Eponine snorted and turned to look at Renn.*
"You really are an American, aren't you? Madame du Barry was the mistress of Kind Louis XV, whose son, the husband of Marie Antoinette, was excecuted in the Revolution. Madame du Barry and Marie Antoinette were social rivals until the King died. The Jardin des Tuileries is your equivalent of Central Park in New York, or at least so a friend named Johnnykins tells me. It's a lovely park where people promenade and show off..." *she sighed.* "It's where Marius met Cosette. Arrondissements are the Paris divisions: they make a spiral shape continuing out from the center so the 9th butts up against the 1st."

Renn nodded.
"Okay, I'm pretty sure I got it. You'll have to forgive me. You know I'm not that smart," she said with a grin.

*Eponine laughed.* "It's alright. I've been lectured enough aout your civil war and I still can't figure it out. So what do you say to the apartment? Should we go see it? I mean it sounds big, but you never know."

Civil war? Who lectures about- Oh. not even gonna ask.
"Of course, you cant just jump in and buy it without seeing it!"
"Oh, and what was that other thing you were going to tell me about?" she asked as they started walking.

*She giggled.* "I'll tell you once we have the apartment."
**AT APARTMENT**
*Eponine smiled. At the dinky, two-room apartment. It had twin beds in the bedroom, a small kitchen, a living room/diningroom, and a bathroom off to the side.*
"Isn't is lovely?"

Renn looked around. It was smaller than she was used to, but she liked it all the same.
"Oh, it's perfect!" Ren said happily. I call this bed," she said giggling, as she hopped on the one closest to the window."

*Eponine laughed ant turned ot the little landlady who had shown them around.*
"We'd like to make an offer on the apartment, seeing as you're selling it."
*The little, squat landlady nodded.* "I'll not sell it to anyone else, then. What'll be you ladies' names, and what'll be your offer?"
*Eponine turned to Renn and began to whisper about the price offer.*

After speaking with Eponine for a moment, Renn turned to the landlady.
"Twenty thousand franks," Renn said, "But... we only have a total of ten thousand now."

*The landlady nodded and said, in her thick russian accent:* "Half now, half in a month. Then the apartment will be your headache. I am too old for these things." The lady held out her hand expectantly. "You give me the ten?"
*Eponine and Renn each pulled out their checkbooks and wrote a 5000 franc check, as agreed, 50/50, handed them too the landlady, and squealed.*
**2 WEEKS LATER**
*Eponine giggled, hanging up the last of her clothes on her side of the dresser.* "I can't believe we're moved in!!"

((LOL why russian?))
"Yeah, Renn said, looking around the apartment, beaming. She flopped down on the sofa happily. She eyed Eponine, suddenly remembering something.
"Hey, remember when we first bought the place, you said you had two things to tell me?"
