She raised an eyebrow. "You're dead. Why would she get mad at you?" Her face became a little sad. "Could you at least stay until I fall asleep?"

*John nodded with a smile.*
"Of course."
*He'd watched over her while she slept before.*

She pulled the blankets around herself and shut her eyes. "Goodnight, Daddy. I love you," she murmured as she drifted off to sleep.

"I love you too," *he whispered, placing a ghostly kiss on her cheek.*

**NEW NIGHT**
Clara sat up with her mother, waiting for her father to arrive. She fidgeted with excitement as she waited.

*John walked through the wall, stopping halfway through when he saw Hallie.*

The room grew icy cold. Hallie recognized the strange sensation from that day that she privately referred to as "the sandwich incident."
Clara, however, ignored the cold. "Come on in, Daddy!" she encouraged. "Mommy said she wanted to see me talk to you!"
Hallie gazed at the spot her daughter was looking at. Was Clara really seeing John?

*John entered the room fully. He went up to Hallie, but didn't see a reaction from her. He looked at Clara.* "She can't see me."

Clara shook her head. "No, she can't. But that doesn't mean you can't talk to her!"
Hallie looked at Clara. "What's he saying?"
Clara smiled. "Oh, he was saying that you can't see him." She turned her attention back to her father. "See, I'm gonna be your trans... trans..." She searched her mind long and hard for something that sounded like the word she was looking for. "Um... transvestite! That was it! I'm gonna be your transvestite!"
Hallie furrowed her brow. "Clara, where did you learn that word?"
The young girl shrugged.
"Well, just don't say it. The word you were looking for was 'translate.'"
"Oh. What does transvestite mean?"
Hallie looked at where she supposed John was standing. "I'd rather not say."

*John held back laughter*
"Your mother will tell you when you're older."
((She learned it from me.))

((Actually, I learned it from my mother! ;D))
Clara looked at Hallie hopefully. Hallie looked back at her confusedly.
"Oh! He said you'd tell me when I was over," she repeated for her.
"Ah. So... how's the afterlife going?" she asked awkwardly.

"Extremely uneventful," *He said, looking from Clara to Hallie. It was rather awkward.* "There's very little to do, having no one that can see you."

Clara repeated this to her mother, who laughed. "Well, at least Clar-Bear can, right? Good thing she's a Sue," she joked.
Clara blinked and then shrugged. "Where do you live, Daddy?"

*He wasn't sure what a "Sue" was, so he turned to Clara.*
"Nowhere, really. I go from place to place. Here, sometimes. There's also an Inn for the dead nearby."

Her face lit up. "Does a boy named Ned live there?"
"Live where?" Hallie felt left out.
"An inn."
"Oh." She smirked. "Who's Ned?"
"Mommy!" the little girl whined, blushing.
Hallie chuckled and addressed John. "Have you by any chance been hanging around a bar called The Dead?" she asked.
