((... Damn you.))
*John burst into enthusiastic applause.*
"That was marvelous! Where did you learn to sing like that? You certainly didn't get it from me. I personally can't sing at all."

Clara chuckled at that last comment. "Well Mommy sings a lot. She and her friend Renn. It's really funny, sometimes. It's really, really cool. All the stuff they sing is from Broadway."

"The street in New York City?" *he asked, confused.*

Clara was confused, too. "You mean it's named after a street?!"

"What do you mean?" *John asked, more confused than ever.*

She sighed, irritated that he didn't know. "You see... Broadway is a very special place, filled with very special people," she explained. "People who can sing and dance—often at the same time! They are a different people; a multi-talented people. A people... who need people, and who are, in many ways, the luckiest people in the world." At the end of her monologue, she burst into giggles.

*John looked at her with a raised eyebrow, with the feeling that she was reciting something memorized.*
"So... It's a place for plays with singing and dancing?"

"Uh-huh. It's really cool. There's a show with you in it, actually."

**BOOTH**
"Oh? Tell me about it."

"It's called Assassins and it's by these guys named Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman. Sondheim wrote the music, Weidman wrote the book (which means the talky part of the show). I'm... not really sure how to explain it. It's just a really crazy, awesome show about people who kill presidents. Or at least try to. You're kinda the leader of those people, and there's one scene where you're with this guy named Lee Harvey Oswald and you convince him to kill John F. Kennedy, and it's really cool and dramatic and stuff. And the music's really good, too. I think you'd like it."

*John nodded, impressed. Someone had understood what he'd done, at least.*
"I think I would." *He looked out the window at the moon.* "Now, missy, I'm sure it's very, very far past you bedtime."

((No, no, we understand. We just disagree.))
Clara stifled a yawn. "No, it's okay. I'm not tired, really," she argued.

"We can't have your mother being angry," *he said fondly.* "She's terrifying when she's angry."

Clara snorted. "What, you think she's gonna throw a fish at me or something? I don't think she'll figure it out, anyway."

*He laughed.* "She just might. And if she does find out, she'd never forgive me."
