*Virginia swallowed the bit of bread she'd been chewing and brushed the crumbs delicately from her hands, careful not to soil the beautiful bedspread.*
"I'm ready whenever you are," *she said.*

*Sylvia moved closer to Virginia, running her fingers through her hair lightly.*
“Well, perhaps we should give them a bit. In the meantime, I would be happy to answer any questions you might have, or we could talk about what you want to learn next.”

*Virginia rested her head lightly on Sylvia's shoulder.*
"What are men like? I mean, really. It seems such a paradox to say that they are all essentially alike, and yet to have such a vast array of tastes to cater to...what's a woman to do?"

*Sylvia smiled.*
“Now that is a good question…I’m not sure how to answer it properly. Men are, after all, like women also. They need to feel needed, the warmth of affection, desired, pleased, sated. But within those basic needs lay many variations. One just has to learn to be flexible. It’s your biggest ally.”

"Alright..." *Virginia stood and began to take the pins from her hair.*
"It's like an art-form, isn't it?" *she said quietly, almost to herself as she stood before the mirror at Sylvia's dressing table, letting her hair tumble about her shoulders and placing the pins on the table before she began to remove her dress, leaving her in her plain grey corset and white petticoats. She shook out the dress and held it before her, surveying it critically.*
"'Tis difficult at times, to be a dowd AND a temptress. It's like running in shoes made of iron."

*Sylvia sighed.*
“It can be. I like to think of it more like dancing, but not knowing who is leading. One takes the turn, then the other. It’s fluid. And like all water, it can shape or destroy. It depends on if you are willing to give way. If you bend, it will sweep you away on adventure. Which I find can be quite lovely.”

"Adventure?" *Virginia's glance through the mirror was vaguely amused.* "What kind of adventure?"

*Sylvia smiled.*
“Oh, Virginia. You don’t think we only care for boring gentlemen with too much time on their hands, do you? With the men I have known, I have played so many parts. The lover, the pupil, the mistress, the empress, the sinner, the tempter. I love them all. I am never tied to one and they all allow me different forms of expression.”

"Like an actress? How fascinating!" *Virginia rubbed a crick in her neck, her gaze distant for a moment.* "To have so many lives in one...must be wonderful."

*Sylvia nodded with a smile.*
“It is. At least for me. Although it is easy to loose oneself.”
*She grew distant for a moment and turned back with a warm smile.*
“But you will not. You have too much hope in you to forget.”

*Virginia picked up a brush and pulled it through the waves of her dark hair.*
"I have hope for only the future. Myself in the past I should like to lose. Her life was not a wholly happy one."

*Sylvia walked over and took the brush from Virginia. She began brushing her hair for her.*
“It is a wonderful way to forget, if that is what you truly seek. Things are always changing. You are free to be whoever you want to be, whenever you want to be.”

"First I need to find what I want to be--then I'll see about becoming it..." *she sighed, lulled by Sylvia's gentle brushstrokes.*

*She paused when she was done. Then Sylvia looked at them both in the mirror before bending down to kiss her cheek.*
“You will have plenty of time to decide.”
*She stood back up.*
“Should I summon the boys?”

*Virginia looked up at Virginia and nodded, with a soft smile.*
"Should I get dressed?" *she asked, glancing at her dress folded over the back of a chair.*
