*Emily looked at him warily, wondering if she could explain it, and if she even ought to try.*
"I control him," *she said simply.*
"Observe."
*She shut her eyes and focused for a moment. The library door banged open and Nadir came running in.*
"DADDY!" *he cried, throwing his arms around Genghis' legs and hugging them.*
"Alright, that's enough."
*Emily waved her hand and Nadir stood, silently, and backed out of the room.*
"Go back where you came from--and forget any of this ever happened."
*Nadir nodded once and disappeared through the door. Emily turned back to Genghis and held out her hands, palms up. When she spoke, her voice seemed to echo solemnly with the hollow ring of ultimate power.*
"I was the first to claim him, when this world had its beginning. He is mine to command."
*She grinned and once again sounded like a very young woman with a joke to tell.*
"I can conjur things, too. Do you like ice cream?"

(( But I did kinda ask for it.)) *Genghis stood petrified. This was...unbelievable in every form of the word. Once it was over and he had at least started to process it he looked to her carefully.* "Are you...a sorceress?"

"Worse. A writer."

"Then the pen is truly mightier than the sword."
*Genghis took a step towards her and bowed formally.*
"I have never known one to wield power the way that you do, but I am not one to question Fate. You would make a powerful ally, should such terms be able to be struck. What say you?"

*Emily was a little taken aback.*
"Well...uh...if you wanna go get coffee or something, sure. But...what do you mean by an ally? Is there a war coming?"

*Genghis wasn't sure what she meant by 'getting coffee or something' but he knew that he would do whatever it took to appease her.*
"There is always war coming. The best offense is a good defense. Or in the case of you, both defense and offense. I have never known one that possesses even a fraction of what you do. Name your price and you will have it."

*Emily gaped a little.*
"Um."
*She gulped.*
"I...I don't know. I don't want to hurt you, don't worry. And I can't control you--I'm not your creator. Just...parts of this world, and what is mine."
*She backed away a step.*
"Genghis. Kid. You're freakin' me out a little, here. What's the big deal?"

*Genghis knew he would have to use caution. It was apparent she did not fully understand the power she possessed. But then again, neither did he. He took a step back respectfully and bowed.*
"Forgive me. I did not mean to perplex you. If you wish to begin with this coffee, I would be pleased to do so. I am merely curious to understand everything about you."

"Oh. Well...I'm flattered, I guess."
*She stuck her hands in her pockets and began walking.*
"I put an espresso machine in the kitchen. Force of habit. Did you want to get your books?"

*Genghis looked calm but determined and answered immediately.*
"They will wait. Please lead the way."

"Alright."
*Emily led the way towards the kitchen.*

**NEW DAY**
*Lucy sat curled in a seat by the window, reading a book that would hopefully help her English skills. She'd figured that, since the writer was a poet, that it would be of the greatest help.
She was reading William Blake.*

*Edward wandered into the library, totally unaware of what kind of room it was. All he knew was that he'd snuck into a building which appeared to be full of beautiful women and he didn't want to get caught. He wasn't sure if this place had security guards, but he didn't want to take a chance. He glanced nervously at the door behind him, almost afraid someone would come in. It wasn't like him to be scared of sneaking in somewhere, but he always got a bit nervous.
Ducking behind the nearest row of books, he sighed in relief and began to look around. He didn't partiuclarly like to read, but perhaps he would find something interesting.*

*Lucy was rather enjoying the poetry, even the words that she didn't recognize. She hadn't really sat down to read something like this before, and she'd been afraid that it would be completely over her head. To her joy, she not only understood (most of it) but found that she liked this stuff. A lot.
She turned another page, unable to stop devouring the words.*
