*Sylvia felt oddly violated. She did what she could to bide her time, but the longer he went on, the more relaxed she felt. Wasn’t that the point, after all? The more he pushed against her skin, the less her rage seemed focused. Could he not even leave her that? Did her have to take everything from her? She fought the urge to roll over, to try to read his face, what he was thinking. Was he smirking? Was he pompously delighting in bending her will, making her body betray her heart? She sucked her lip in confusion. She tried to focus on Thatcher’s necklace, on the brand that itched above her ankle. But when her words came, she was shocked to hear their innocence, their desperation. She simply didn’t understand this and she felt that she was loosing herself.*
“Sir…I don’t understand…”
*She wanted to look back, but she didn’t. She couldn’t. She had the sudden fear that there would be a hot poker, set to blind her eye at such insolence. Sylvia pressed herself against the bed.*
“Why are you doing this?”
*Although the statement was ambiguous, she meant everything. The keys, the domination games, the poisoning, the branding, and now…this. She couldn’t force herself to make it make sense.*

*Mondego's thoughts were clearing. He could sense that things had changed inside him. The need to play was still there but the prize was changing in his mind. He had found someone as skilled as himself and felt something he had never felt. He was experiencing something he had never done and he enjoyed it.*
"Because I never have. Because you need this too. I can feel you relaxing. Your muscles aren't as tense."
*Mondego paused for a moment and leaned down to whisper in her ear.*
"I'm not asking you to understand."
*Mondego added more oil to his hands and began massaging her lower back.*

*Sylvia was confused by his words. Her brow furrowed against the pillow. She stole a peek at him over her shoulder, veiled through the lace, her voice was hesitant.*
“Then what are you asking of me, sir?”

*The door swung open on oiled hinges as Thatcher pocketed the blade he'd picked the locks with. He bowed shortly and gallantly to Mondego and Sylvia in turn before speaking.*
"Pardon the intrusion, but there's an urgent matter of business I've come to discuss," *he said, addressing Sylvia.*

*Sylvia wriggled onto her side, pulling up the lace from her eyes at the familiar voice. Can tonight get any worse? She pulled the sheet up over her exposed chest. Her voice was, not surprisingly, quite alarmed.*
“Sir! What is the meaning of this?”

*Thatcher raised an eyebrow at this.*
"I've already seen them, mademoiselle, and a good bit else besides. Along with the rest of Paris. I had not time to wait to conclude this business of ours--again, you'll pardon the interruption."
*His eyes fell on the necklace he'd given Sylvia, but only in passing and he said nothing of it.*

Of course. How could I forget?
*The comfort that had glazed Sylvia’s mind during the massage dropped away and she remembered who she was dealing with. It was just strange to see him outside of a place that he was expected to be. Everything about him was calculated, including every meeting they had ever taken. It threw her aback to deal with such a situation in Mondego’s home. She lowered the sheet in a swift motion and pressed herself up into a seated position, her chin lifting coolly as her demeanor shifted. Transformed from lush decadence to a rational business woman in a moment, she turned to Mondego, her eyes softening briefly in apology.*
“Please forgive me, sir. This is a bit unexpected for both of us.”
*She turned her attention back to Thatcher with a cool eye and a raised brow. She tried to give off the air of confidence, but she was concerned at what would be so pressing that Thatcher would intrude.*
“Business, sir? What matter is so desperate?”

"It alone concerns your ear, mademoiselle," *he said quietly, a line of irritation forming between his brows. She should know he does nothing in the presence of strangers. He stepped back towards the door and held it open, gesturing to Mondego to leave.* "If you will excuse us, Monsieur."

Now that is interesting, he picked the locks...
"By all means, you are excused."
*Calmly turning toward Sylvia.*
"Your clothes and necklace are on the dresser. I apologize for not sending them the other night. I hope we can continue this another time."
*Turning sharply toward the strange man.*
"I would offer you a drink but you have not been welcomed into my home yet. I don't even have your name."
*Mondego grins slyly.*
"Again, you are excused. I'm sure whatever business you have can be conducted elsewhere. Good day, sir."

"If you will give the lady a chance to clothe herself, I can easily take her elsewhere--although what I have to say will not take up much time and doubtless it may suit you better to have her remain in the vicinity, allowing you to continue your...dalliance..." *the word seemed to have a foul taste for Thatcher.* "...at your leisure."

"As you see fit. Can I get you a drink for your ... discussion?"
Maybe with a little extra poison...

*Thatcher shrugged.*
"As it please you, Monsieur. I'm hardly a guest."

((Dress-you-in-a-dress poison )) "Very well. I will return shortly." *Mondego left the room and was not surprised to see his servant waiting with a worried look. He had seen this man approach the house and pick the locks and wisely remained hidden from view. Mondego quickly relayed instructions to add sleep poison to a drink and return shortly. Mondego then quickly went to the nearest hiding spot. It was not a spot for viewing so much as hearing. He didn't trust his servants enough for this room.*

*Sylvia looked down to her lap, glancing between the two men, unsure of what to do.*
Why did everything have to be so complicated? I only wanted my stupid necklace back.
*As Mondego left, she looked to Thatcher, perplexed. She stood gracefully and approached him. Her voice was a whisper.*
“What is it? Why did you come here? It could be dangerous, even for a man like yourself.”

((Aw nuts. Thatch'd rather die.))
*Thatcher turned to Sylvia.*
"Get dressed. We're leaving."
