*Will turned back sharply at the man's shouting. He didn't need this crap. And Faye certainly didn't need it.*
"Sir! Calm yourself! I have no idea what the last few centuries were like...for anybody. I was alive. Now I am not. That is enough to deal with at the moment. Now please leave me be before I do something that I might regret."

Richard limped up to Will, a rather dangerous look in his eyes.
"YOU DON'T 'GET IT', DO YOU? YOU WROTE THAT SHAM ABOUT ME. ME! AND YOU HAVE NOTHING TO SAY FOR IT?"

*Faye just stood in open-mouthed shock for a moment, dripping all over the floor, the towel hanging limply from her hands.*

Richard looked apologetically at Faye and held up an index finger as though to say "Wait a miniute."

*Will squinted at the man in disbelief.*
"Sir, I have no idea who you are. So if I mortally offended you I am deeply sorry. I wrote what I did to entertain. Nothing more. Now...don't you think the lady takes precedent in this situation? Or does something that happened back when I was alive and you, I assume, were not, have more importance than a young lady's troubles?"

Richard lowered his voice to a very flat monotone and said, slowly for effect:
"I. Am. Richard. The. Third."

Oh, so I see.
*Will struggled some semblance of a court bow to Richard. Then he stood, looking to him expectantly.*
"Very well, your Majesty. And how exactly can I rectify the situation so that I might move forward in aiding the young lady? What would grant you satisfaction for whatever crime you feel that I have caused you?"

Richard shook his head and stepped toward Faye.
"You think you can just- make up for it with one easy apology? I don't think so. I will never, ever be able to live down that piece of scandalous trash you wrote about me."
He put his arm around her.

Fine.
*Will closed his eyes and pursed his lips. Then he refocused his gaze on Richard.*
"As you will it, my lord. If I can not grant you satisfaction in this, perhaps I should take my leave to return to bed."
*He turned to Faye and he looked apologetic.*
"If I have your blessing to it, my lady. I meant no dishonor. I only want to return to my room and be the cause of no more suffering."
I have never hit a king. I will not hit a king. I will not hit a king. I will not hit a king. Not even one who deserves it most grievously.

Richard quite calmly pulled Faye closer to him.
"Get out of my sight," he said flatly, with a dismissive and altogether kingly motion of the hand.
As soon as Shakespeare was gone, Richard let go and thrust a triumphant fist into the air.
"YES! YES! VICTORY AT LAST!"

*Faye turned to Richard and slapped him hard across the face.*
"THAT MAN IS A GUEST IN MY INN!" *she exclaimed, at her wit's end.* "How DARE you?"

Richard stared at her for a moment. To be perfectly honest, no-one had slapped him since he was seventeen years old. (In the lower recesses of his mind, he reflected that that had also usually occurred in the tavern of an inn or similar. Coincidence?)
"It had nothing to do with you," he said stiffly.

"It has nothing to do with me? IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ME?" *she repeated, exasperated.* "He'll think I permit people who are completely BONKERS to just roam around, dragging guests out of their beds in the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT to have out an INCONSEQUENTIAL MATTER of BIZARRE PRINCIPLES!"

"Inconse-"
Richard sort of snarled, and his hands balled into fists.
"You think this is INCONSEQUENTIAL?"

"What difference could it POSSIBLY make now? All it is is your hurt pride!" *she shouted.* "You've got problems. WE'VE ALL GOT PROBLEMS!"
