((This plays after the Foyer thread and after Irene has gone to stay with Raoul.))
*Francis stared at his butler with so much rage that the old man was shaking.*
"You saw what!"
*The man stepped back and turned even more pale.* "I am terribly sorry, sir, she left with the Vicomte, the one who was supposed to be dead and...."
"AND WHAT!"
*The butler had backed up against the door and looked like he was going to faint.* "andisawthemkisssirpleasedon'tkillme."
*Francis turned to look at a painting of a beautiful park during a summer day, woman walked around in fancy dresses, children were playing and a couple of ducklings were splattering in the water.*
"Repeat that."
"I saw them kissing, sir."
*Francis' kept staring at the painting and breathed heavily.*
"Sir?"
"Leave me."
*The butler gladly exited the room and left Francis looking at the painting with an inhumanly focus. After what seemed to be an eternity he walked over to the desk that stood next to him and he sat down, burying his head in his hands.*
"Why?"
*He muttered heartbroken when someone knocked on the door.*
"Leave me!"
*A young maid stepped into the room and hold out a note.* "This just arrived sir, it's a note from your wife."
"Then burn it."
*Francis replied harshly, looking at the girl with so much anger that she quickly left the room, dropping the note on the floor.*

I ran inside the house, looking for my husband. I was pulled aside by a servant. "Madame, I suggest you leave. Your husband is furious with you because of what you did with Raoul." "What? But- I didn't do anything..." I ran upstairs. "Francis!", I called. When recieved no answer, I called out again. "I don't know what you've been told, but when I heard you were having an affair with Arielle, I at least had the decency to ask you about it. Is it too much to expect the same courtesy from you?"

*Francis looked up when he heard his wife calling and threw the pencil down with which he was mindlessly drawing. He ignored her and looked down at the paper on which he had drawn her, of course. Francis stood up and walked to the fireplace, throwing in the sketch with an blank look on his face. Then he heard his wife call out again and even though he stood close to the fire, he felt cold. Slowly he turned around and opened the door, gazing silently at his wife while standing in the doorway.*

"Francis", I said, "your servant told me what you think. I can't ask you to believe me, but I can ask you to listen to my side. Yes, I went with him. I went with him because I was frightened that Dracula would come back, I wanted to hide. I told him that I wasn't going to sleep with him, and he claimed to understand. Yes, he did kiss me. I was a fool to think that he had any honorable intentions. But I swear to you that I left immediatley after he made himself clear."
I stopped and took a breath, hardly aware of the tears streaming down my face.
"I love you. My god, if I didn't love you, why do you think I stayed after you became a vampire? Why would I have been the one to propose? If you don't want me any more, say so and I will leave. But I will love you until the day I die."
I turned back toward the door when I was greeted with silence. But I turned and dropped the slanderous note on the table.
"Not that you care, but Raoul recieved this. I assume it isn't true, although I was unconscious for a great deal of the time."

*Francis wanted to walk over to Irene, to hold her in his arms and tell her that he was a fool for not trusting her and to beg her to forgive him. But instead he picked up the note and read it.*
"Why would anyone write this? Dracula was the one who had tied you down and I would never ever do such a thing! I love you too much for that!"
*Francis walked over to Irene and kneeled before her, holding in of her hands in his and pressing it against his forehead.*
"Please forgive me for my idiocy. The fear of losing you drove me nearly mad."

I held Francis close to me and kissed him.
"I forgive you. I should have been thinking of how my actions would appear. I can hardly blame you for thinking what you did."

*Francis drew back and felt a weight fall from his heart.*
"We are just two fools in love, are we not."
