Norman shot him an embarrassed smile.
"You'll need to untie one hand," he said, almost apologetic. "The right one."

((FAIL. See? He would have noticed this sort of thing. I'm glad you did.))
"Oh, of course." *Hannibal answered easily, standing to untie the man's hand without any sort of worry apparent.*

Norman flexed it experimentally. Circulation worked somewhat differently as a vampire; he thought perhaps the blood moved more sluggishly by nature, so he experienced less discomfort when tied. But still. Part of him was just waiting, hoping he didn't decide to do anything to Dr. Fell. Though he thought perhaps his other self was clever enough to wait until his victory was certain.
He reached for the pen and began to sign where indicated, not even reading the papers. What did it matter, anyway? Formalities.

*Hannibal watched the man with a strange detachment. There was something about the man. Something...familiar? No...perhaps something he'd come across once or... For some reason he kept coming back to Crane and his little whore. It didn't make sense at the moment, but he did what he could to memorize every detail of the man, his pale complexion, the way he moved. That way he could sort it out later. Everything signed, he nodded at Norman.*
"That's all I need tonight." *He answered easily.*

Norman smiled up at him, relieved, the sort of smile that he wasn't even really conscious of. The one that was almost canine in its eagerness to please. Which wasn't to say there was anything sloppy about Norman. He was more puppish in a gangly, awkward, hit-too-many-times-with-a-newspaper way.
"Okay," he said, suddenly tired. "Thank you, Dr. Fell."

"You're welcome." *He answered simply, leaving the man to finish untying himself as he went to the door, opened it and gestured to Sarah. She seemed surprised (and maybe a little worried), hurrying in to see Norman.*

Norman offered another smile to Sarah, glancing down again to finish untying his left hand, then his ankles.
"I hope the wait wasn't too long."

"Oh! Oh no." *Sarah was quick to assure him.* "Not at all. I just..."
*She glanced at the doctor who was watching them quietly. Her voice lowered a bit as she helped him with his legs.*
"I thought it might be a while longer."

Norman shook his head, unaware that his expression was gently worshipful when he looked at Sarah, or that Dr. Fell might be watching.
"Thank you," he said. "It always takes time to get these things started right. Paperwork and all that."
He stood, swaying slightly though he righted himself quickly with a hand on the back of the chair and offered an apologetic smile to Sarah. "Shall we?"

*Sarah just smiled back at Norman. Of course. Why hadn't she thought of that? She held her arms out cautiously to him, in case he needed the support.*
"Yes. Get you home." *She nodded, then looked to the doctor.*
"Thank you, sir. For seeing us so late."

"Any time." *Hannibal replied smoothly with a bow of his head before addressing Norman.*
"And I'll see you again in a few days."

Norman's mouth quirked nervously.
"A few days," he confirmed, and resisted taking Sarah's arm as they left. He could do this on his own. She didn't need him leaning on her constantly--physically or otherwise.

*Once he seemed determined to do it on his own, Sarah lowered her hands dutifully, nodding once more to the doctor before shutting the door behind them.*
"So..." *She asked low and eagerly.* "How did it go? Do you like him? Do you think he can help?"
*She didn't mean to be so excited, but she just wanted to see him better. Safer.*

"I... don't know," Norman confessed, having a fairly dim view of his own prognosis. "If anyone can, I think he can. He seems very intelligent." His brow furrowed. "Very quiet, but all of them are. It's so you'll talk more."

*Sarah just nodded, completely ignorant and new at this.*
"But still..." *She was trying to keep hope up.* "It's better than..." *Her brow furrowed for a moment, unsure if she wanted to finish the thought.*
"I just hope he can give you a little peace of mind." *She finally managed.*
