*House sat at his desk and bounced his cane on the ground idly. Finding nothing better to do, he set his cane aside and began looking through the huge stack of papers on his desk.*

Richard was sitting across the room, writing in what looked like some kind of large spiral notebook. He had come without his cane, considering that it had only succeeded in adding pain to his wrists.

"Nurse biznitch seems the type to be obsessive about neatness. Why can't she apply her gift on my desk," *House mumbled as he rearranged some papers.*
*When he lifted a stack of patient files, he came across Renn's drawing of him.* "Okay... Now I'm really considering getting a restraining order on the intern," *he said to Richard, holding up the rather impressive drawing of him.*

Richard stifled a laugh and redirected his attention back to his notebook.

*House looked at him write in his notebook.* "What are you writing?" *he asked, tilting his head in his direction.*

Richard frowned.
"If you must know... it's volume 23 of my novel-in-progress."

*House wasn't particularly interested so he moved on.* "I've... got a date with her," *he said, rather embarrased.*

*House grunted in frustration.* "You're not enraged that I've been blackmailed into dating a girl one-third my age?" *He practially yelled.*
"Nurse shorty out there is holding my vicodin supply as hostage," *He said, angrily pointing towards the clinic with his cane.* "Do anything she doesn't like, no vicodin; don't do clinic duty, no vicodin; don't date my 15 year-old intern, no vicodin!"

"Ah," said Richard. He looked up for a moment, still without looking at House. "Well, at least she's not related to you."
He looked back at the book. "I say that from experience."

"She knows I can't fire her so she's screwin' with me," *he said angrily as he limped over to the trash can to throw away the drawing. But he looked at it again. It was rather nicely done with pretty good detail. Instead of trashing it, he limped over to the X-ray light board and pinned the sketch to it.*

"Seems a mite odd hanging your own picture up like that, mate," said Richard.

"It's to remind me how much I hate my job," *he retorted shortly before sitting back down at this desk.*

Richard only smiled and kept writing.
"So, I'm almost at the point where Mercedes realizes that the baby she is carrying is in fact the Earl of Northam's, while she has previously believed it to be the product of Jeremy the stable-boy. Is that a fortuitous turn of events?"
He sounded pleased with himself.
