*The driver heard a loud bang, running footsteps and then a splash. He swiftly stopped the carriage and jumped down from his seating area. He walked over to the passenger section and gasped. The girl was gone!. Turning around for the first time he observed the surroundings. They had stopped outside a frozen lake. In the center of the lake a small, person sized hole had appeared. The driver walked over to it.Girl must have thrown herself in and drowned herself. He shivered. This was a sorry business. Remembering that where he had collected his prisoner from had people there he turned the carriage around and rode back to spread the news.*

It had been some time since Georgiana's "death", but I still wasn't convinced. Until I saw the body, I had to assume she still posed a danger. I took a look at the carriage tracks, trying to determine something- anything.

I looked at the tracks, and the place where she might have jumped from. Maybe, maybe not.
Screw this case. Even if I found Georgiana, the De Chagnys owned this town. Raoul could knock off a rival, Rolo could rape a nun, Georgiana could summon a few demons, and the law would never touch them. And here I was, not even getting paid, but simply trying to go after her out of the goodness of my heart. What kind of sap was I, anyway?
