*Mona came up the pathway and handed Rebecca's letter to Philippe who was working in the small vegetable patch.
Philippe read the letter, an unreadable expression on his face before he began to write his reply.*
Dear Rebecca My letter I would imagine would answer your question. If you will it I will write. If anything has been left unsaid between us perhaps they are not to be said yet. I know, on my part that I cannot speak more to you at present. I hope that this letter finds you well, if anything I can do can ease your unhappiness please do ask.
Yours Faithfully Philippe De Chagny.
*Philippe sealed the letter and handed it to Mona who hobbled back inside the cottage.*

*Another letter arrived the next day.*
Dear Philippe, Thank you for your letter--indeed I did not expect a reply so soon. I DO feel there are things left to say, but I can't think what they are. Perhaps clarity will come to me with time. I will not lie to you--I have felt lingeringly ill since I recovered from the fever. I hope it will pass, but sometimes it seems to be getting worse. Take care of yourself.
Rebecca.

"Mona, I must ask for your aid again. Please could you..."
*The old woman had nodded was already making the slow descent to the estate. Philippe watched her go before returning to his letter.*
Dear Rebecca, You must not under any cost let yourself become ill. Hire a maid if you need it. To not let yourself become at all under stress. If you worsen send a messager and I will return IMMEDIATELY. Let no expense stop your recovery. I cherish your health above all else. Yours Philippe
*Philippe changed into old clothes and quickly descended the hill himself. On the way he handed the letter to a servant.*

*Pilippe recieved the letter and read it, first with pleasure but then with worry. A wave of fear washed over him and he shuddered. Mona approached with a pen and ink but he waved it away.*
"No,I cannot coldly write for this. Where are my clothes?"
*Mona gestured and Philippe ran hurriedly to change. He returned in a few moments and found his horse saddled and ready. He smiled gratefully to Mona.*
"Your kindness shall not be forgotten."
*He expression darkened again and he mounted his horse and began to gallop towards the estate."
