*Darcy had the good grace to look embarrassed.*
"Frankly, madame, neither to I," *he confessed.* "I mistook her. I must have been fooled by the light. Forgive me for trespassing upon your hospitality; I realize what my questions suggest, and have no desire to do so. It was her name which troubled me so, in combination with the familiarity of her face."
*His face quite red now, he bowed.*
"My hasty assumptions are entirely unforgivable," *he said.* "I will trouble you no further with my foolishness."

"It is of no trouble sir, merely an unfortunate coincidence."
*She also stood.*
"Think no more of it. Though, perhaps it troubled you greatly. I, or my family for that matter habour any ill will towards you."

"Thank you," *he said.* "You can understand, as her sole guardian and only family it struck me to see her--rather, one so like her in every visible detail--where I did not expect to."
*He bowed stiffly again.*
"My mind is eased. Farewell, madame. All the best to your family."

"I will," *he said.* "Good afternoon."
*A chagrined and no less confused Mr. Darcy mounted Horatio and rode off.*

*Clarisse followed him with her eyes, a confused frown on her face. She had to get Georgiana married. Soon.*

***NEW DAY***
*Servants scurried about with trunks and cases and bags of the family's personal belongings. Nursemaids took the twins from Rebecca and a governess and tutor saw to Stefan, and Rebecca felt like collapsing in a heap then and there.*
Traveling from Vienna to Paris with three children to amuse in a jolting carriage...
*She glanced at Rudolf.*
...four...

*Rudolf was glad to be able to finally stand and stretch--being confined to a carriage for so long caused no small amount of stiff muscles. He glanced around the foyer, the place being somewhat familiar from his previous, if brief, visit here so many years ago*
"We need a train next time...I don't care if the guards think rail travel has more security risks...it's faster..." He muttered.

"Why don't you go lie down and rest? I'll see to it that everything's unpacked in its proper place."

"I'm all right. I think I need to stretch my legs more than anything...I certainly don't mind helping out."

"Mmmhmm. Bearing in mind that I know exactly where everything goes in this house?" *she retorted, raising an eyebrow.*

"Aren't I always?" *she teased dryly.*
"Very well--we'll start putting the library in order."
*Lord only knew how many crates of books they had brought with them.*

**NEW DAY**
*Treszka knocked on the door, then waited as she nervously fiddled with her hair. Once she'd realized that Rudolf and Rebecca were now in Paris, she'd headed over as fast as possible. With her mother gone and father little more than a ghost, the Hapsburgs were really the only family she had left.
And, they had kids and she hadn't met those yet. They were cousins...sort of...*
