Percy easily picked up her trunk and motioned to his coachman.
"Are you all right?" he asked.

"I am well, thank you," *she said shortly, climbing into the carriage.*

Percy studied her for a few moments and then stepped into the carriage.
He tapped his cane twice on the ground and spent most of the trip covertly watching his wife.

*Vianne folded her hands in her lap and focused her gaze on what passed by the window until they reached Percy's estate.*

***NEW DAY***
An invitation arrived. It is hand-painted in gold on velum, perfumed and sealed in wax.
To any and all that wish to partake of festivities in the spirit of St. Valentine:
The newly arrived Earl of Rochester would entreat your attendance and your pleasure at a gala hosted at the grand Opera Populaire on February the Fourteenth from Seven in the Evening until you would beg your leave for reason of exhaustion due to pure indulgence. All are welcome and encouraged to bring those that you fancy with you. For those who make their attendance unaccompanied, may the Saint bestow his gift upon you, finding you in merry company for the evening.
Deepest regards.

**NEW DAY**
*Darcy, his face a grim mask of determination, alit from Horatio whom he handed to a groom.
De Chagny, she'd said. This would soon be decided.*
((I know he should send a letter. But that's less fun.))

((The plot bunny in my head started singing May/December...heeeeee))
*Clarisse, descended the stairs, a man's calling card in her hand. She had heard of the Darcy's of course.*
"Mr Darcy, I presume?"
*She asked, smiling easily.*

"Yes. Madame de Chagny?"

*Clarisse inclined her head.*
"I know of your aunt a little."
*She moved over to a chair and sat down.*
"Please, do sit."

"Tolerably, Thank you."
*Clarisse, naturally hid her curiousity behind a mask of indifference.*

*Darcy nodded, frowned, looked up, and nodded again.*
"Well then. Forgive me for getting straight to business, but I feel my errand is important enough to warrant clarity of purpose. I have come, under some anxiety of spirit and no little chagrin about the propriety of my actions, to inquire after a certain lady of the household. A miss Georgiana de Chagny."

*Clarisse thought quickly. Surely then the man wished to marry her. This would be no bad thing, the girl was clearly wild. Perhaps in England she might be calmed.*
"Well Sir, commit your suite."
*She smiled pleasantly at him.*

*Darcy blanched, struck rudely silent for a moment, then blushed.*
"No, Madame, you mistake me. In truth, it is a strange errand I'm on. I met Mademoiselle de Chagny at a ball some few evenings ago, and was struck by her resemblance, which is uncanny, to my own sister. Miss Georgiana Darcy."

*Clarisse frowned.*
"I have known Georgiana since she was a baby. She is truly my niece. Forgive me Sir, I do not understand your meaning."
