"Indeed?" *she sat on one of the chairs near the large fireplace and invited the gentleman to sit as well.* "May I inquire as to the name of this person? With our mutual and varied business at the opera, my husband and I share several contacts and acquaintances." *She tilted her head curiously and smiled gently.* "Forgive me for not introducing myself. I am Vianne Gi--de Chagny." *she shook her head.* "Obviously I've not yet acquired the habit of speaking my married name. And you are--?"

Percy closed his eyes for a moment.
"She is my wife," he whispered. "Something is wrong with her, and I had hoped the Comte could help."
He opened his eyes, and they glimmered with unshed tears.
"I am Percy Blakeney, Baron."

*Madame Giry felt a wave of pity for the man.* "I am sorry to have given you pain...if there is any way I can help..." *she bit her lip, fighting to keep the conversation polite.* "I was once married to a baron...my last husband..." *a sad smile pulled at her lips.* "He died in a fire...but...there was something wrong with him, as well. Long before he...Very wrong..." *she looked up at the blue-eyed gentleman.* "I understand, Monsieur, the pain you must be feeling on your wife's account."

((It's so weird having this normally insanely competent character being so...clueless. Because on your average day, she knows EVERYTHING. That's it, no more deals with Satan for me.))

*Philippe entered the library and stood quietly at the door, his face confused.*
I'm sorry sir, what did you say?

Percy blinked away tears and turned to Phillippe.
"Forgive me sir, but I wondered if I could speak to you on behalf of my wife...Lady Blakeney."
He turned and smiled at Vianne.
"You shall always have my gratitude, madame," he said softly, bowing over her hand, "and I pray the memories of your past return."

*He brow creased with slight confusion, but she shrugged it off as being the poor man's own mental uproar due to what was obviously a trying situation for him. She gently patted his hand and summoned a smile.* "I daresay all shall be well with you, Monsieur, given time. Recall that there is nothing lost that cannot be found."

Percy looked straight into her eyes.
"I hope so, my lady. Else there may be cause for great sorrow...and greater grief."

*Vianne saw a shadow pass over the man's face and a chill swept through her, barely suppressed as an involuntary shiver. She pulled her hand from his grasp with a little more force than was needed and stood abruptly.* "I shall leave you gentlemen to your conversation. Phillipe...Monsieur..." *she addressed each and nodded to them, nothing in her politeness of tone or manner betraying the sudden uneasiness that gripped her. She turned and made a quiet exit, never pausing nor looking back, only suddenly desperate to be away from the gravity of that room and the strange man called Blakeney.*

Percy watched her go, and that wild passion that caught hold of his heart in the midst of adventure lit his eyes, and so when he turned to Phillippe, brilliant blue gazed upon the Comte.
"Sir," Percy said quietly, "I would have you know that I have found Lady Blakeney. She is your wife."
