*hates you* XD My favourite Carmen is Grace Bumbry, hands down. Favourite Don Jose's are Placido Domingo and Jon Vickers. Favourite Micaela's are Mirella Freni and Leona Mitchell. Who plays the major roles in that DVD?
I just can't stand it when I hear people raving about Jenkins' Habanera. What in the world?! She's getting so much attention becuase of her huge tits and face, not her voice. That Habanera just shames all the true operatic mezzos out there. And I've heard that Jenkins' might be taking the stage and playing Carmen. When that day come...oh GOD! *stabs self*

Isn't it possible that people do just enjoy listening to her sing? I mean, that certainly would not excuse her lack of proper training, and it wouldn't make her any "better" but it's possible that people like her despite of her improper singing. I think Hayley Westenra has a pretty voice, but I certainly don't think she's operatic or anything like that.

Her high notes are unsupported so they're shrill.
It's the same witht he whole Emmy BS..."OMG! BUT SHE HAS SUCH A PRETTY VOICE!" It's just ridiculous. And as a person who knows MANY people who have been training all their lives...it honestly pisses me off. There are SO many other people out there that actually DESERVE the fame and attention in the classical spotlight. However, there are these OMGHAWT people who just sell the sex and not the music.

Well, I agree that they certainly don't deserve the attention they get for being "classical" or "operatic" singers...that's what does bother me. I mean, I couldn't care less if someone thought Emmy had a pretty voice. I disagree, but that's their opinion and they have every right to it. It's when people say she's operatic that bugs the crap out of me.

Exactly. And Jenkins' saying that she's soon take the stage in some bad-a*s opera house as Carmen is THE biggest load of CR*P EVER.
If Jenkins' and Westenra sang pop, fine. I don't care. JUST DON'T SHAME THE CLASSICAL GENRE!
