My dear Diary,
I've arrived here at the Opera. It's actually a lovely place...well, it's beautiful. I can't believe how beautiful.
I've met several people here, diary. The men seem handsome and serious, intent on proving themselves to be gentlemen. The girls- not women, all of them are certainly still girls- are mostly younger than myself, full of shallow hopes and dreams. I have yet to see one who is not stunning! But none of them seem to have thoughts any deeper than performing, being unbelievably sweet, or finding a handsome lover. It's a bit odd, I suppose...I've never seen so many lovely people in one place before. Although I've met one very strange man who wears a wedding dress! He lives under the opera, and though he's weird as they come, he's still strangely attractive. But I mean...a dress? And he calls himself 'The Manliness of the Opera'. Very strange.
I've gotten a bit of information about Arielle by masquerading as her cousin rather than her sister. A girl who certainly has a drinking problem is friends with her, and told me that Arielle is married! This is certainly shocking, and I must find out more. I'm going to use Alandra to get as much information as I can before I confront her. This sort of society and such a quick marriage are not going to fly as long as *I* am her sister.
But you know, in spite of the people being so perfect, Arielle being so odd, and my being here being strange in itself, I really like it here. I feel...free, I suppose. Most of these girls are independent and do things I would never dream of doing...so I feel a bit less forced to be perfect at all times.
The sky and stars are far too beautiful for me to ever describe.
With Love,
Seraphina
