"That's better," *he said.* "I was beginning to think your opening salvo was a fluke."

"Hell no, I'm just not used to this," *he said calmly, finishing his tea with a sigh.*

*Valmont pursed his lips.*
"Tea, or scintillating conversation?"

"Being a man. I had tea and scintillating conversation before."

*Valmont fought the urge to roll his eyes.*
"I hope you did not induce me here only to wax poetic over your first conquest," *he said, supremely bored.*
((PS-Kris wanted to talk to Emile back at Le Rogue. If you're game.))

"Girl, please, you are NOT my first conquest, nor my most admirable," *he scoffed.*

*Severely taken aback, Valmont nonetheless did not show it. He merely chuckled.*
"I was correct before, then. You have me all wrong, monsieur. On several counts."
*He stood.*
"Congratulations on the loss of your virginity," *he said casually.* "Really, well done."

*Emile rolled his eyes.*
"Now what's that supposed to mean? The loss of my virginity was not a great experience," *he said, his eyes darkening as he recalled being trapped in Dracula's castle with a shudder.*

*The man was clearly a lunatic. Valmont should have seen it earlier, he admonished himself.*
"Then you're clearly doing it wrong," *he said, not sitting. He certainly knew at what point he had become a man. He'd been twelve.*

*Emile got to his feet and leaned over until he was eye to eye with Valmont but towering over the seated man.*
"I had nothing to do with it. I had no say in the matter," *he said in a dangerous hiss.* "My captor found every reason to be cruel, and I assure you, Monsieur, the wrongdoing was entirely on his part."

*Valmont sat quickly, taken by surprise. He raised a hand.*
"Monsieur, you have me confused with someone else. I haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about. It seems our ideas about becoming men are rather different, but I had no intention of causing such offense. Why don't you tell me what it is you want?"

*Emile sighed and shook his head.*
"Never mind. Forget it. You wouldn't understand."
*Throwing some money on the table to pay for his tea, he picked up his coat and turned towards the door.*

((I figure they can run into each other at their hotel? or something.))
"Probably not," *Valmont said.* "The name's Valmont, by the way. So you can pester me by name next time."

"Emily. I mean Emile."
*He ducked out the door and disappeared down the street.*

*Valmont smiled to himself and drank his coffee. Well. That had been amusing.*
Emily?
