Herbert was on the prowl, and his walk showed it as he made his way through the moonlight-soaked Tuileries garden. The sun had already gone down and the moon was already shining in the sky.
He'd been approached by another vampire a few minutes earlier, a particularly grim-seeming little blonde girl who had spoken to him most imperiously about never having seen him at the theater, at which point he patted her on the head and tried to send her off with a sweet. Another vampire, a man, tall and blonde, showed up then and hurried the girl away whilst giving Herbert a look of extreme dislike.
It was a pity, Herbert thought as they walked away. The grown-up male vampire really was a pretty thing, but he seemed too preoccupied with the girl, whom Herbert assumed was his daughter until he saw the looks they were giving each other...
"Oh dear," said Herbert.

*After spending an evening at the opera with some newly aquired high society aquantences, Dorian decided to walk through the gardens instead of going straight to Rochester's. It was very pretty, he noted, though it seemed rather deserted.*

Herbert then realized that he had given the child his last bonbon.
"You little twit!" he exclaimed, running out of the bushes.

*Dorian raised an eyebrow, stepping aside to let the long haired man pass him without being run down.*
"Do watch where you're going," *he said, annoyed.*

"Oh, did I hurt you?" said Herbert, in altogether too sugary of a tone.

"Not at all," *Dorian said, raising an eyebrow.* "I was merely startled."

"I'll bet you were!" Herbert giggled.

*Dorian smiled.*
"Do you normally spend your evenings hiding in the shrubbery?"

"Only when I'm hungry."
He smiled.
"And I'm ALWAYS hungry."

Hungry? What on earth can he mean?
"Ah. Well, you must have quite an appetite," *he said, playing along.*

"Oh, but I do," Herbert whispered in his ear.

Ah.
*Dorian smirked, catching on. (Well, catching on to half of what he meant, anyway.) This could be interesting. He turned to face Herbert.*
"And what do you hunger for?"

"YOU."
(Herbert was never one for subtlety.)

*Dorian laughed, amused at the man's disregard for any kind of discretion.*
"Are you sure you can handle me?" *he asked silkily.*
