*Dorian walked up the opera staircase surveying the crowd. He loved the opera. It was a wonderful place to see and be seen. He situated himself in an obvious corner and watched to see if there was anyone that piqued his interest.*

*Christine entered the foyer and smiled politely at the stranger*
"Can I help you?"

*Dorian nodded in greeting. *
"There's nothing in particular I'm looking for," *he said.* "I'm merely taking in the atmosphere."
*He flashed her a charming grin.*

*She smiled back*
"Whatever it is you want, I'm sure you'll find it. This is a wonderful place."

"Oh, I'm sure it is," *he replied.* "Quite a marvelous room. Is the rest of the Opera so grand?"

*Micaela couldn't help overhearing the conversation between Christine and the man (and also couldn't help thinking that they would make incredibly attractive babies). She walked aver and replied:* "Yes, the rest of the opera is just as beautiful, if not more beautiful. That is unless you want to see backstage, which isn't asthetically pleasing, but does have its own charm, at least if you're a stage person." *She realized that she was rambling, and imediately stopped and smiled.*

*Dorian smiled at the short pretty girl. *
"Ah, I see. In that case I'll be spending much of my time here. What is your name?"

"Dorian Gray," *he said smoothly, shaking her hand.*
"Do you perform here? Are you a singer, or a dancer perhaps?"

*She blushed a little.*
"I was on my way to apply for a position as a singer. I would never hire me as a dancer... I would be bound to bring down a set piece by falling on it." *She laughed.* "My fellow castmates at home laughed at me for falling onstage during rehearsals, but never at a performance."

*Dorian laughed.*
"I'm sure you're more graceful than you make yourself out to be," *he said, his eyes bright.*
"At home, you say? Where are you from?"

**AS MICAELA**
*She thought for a moment, trying to recall her american history unit on Cincinnati.*
"I'm from... out of town. A settlement in Ohio, to be exact."

"Ah, America! I've always been fascinated with the New World. You must tell me all about it. "

*She smiled, glad for the attention.*
"Well, New York is my favorite city. Cincinnati was always a bit small for my taste. I know a lot more about New York than I do Cincinnati, even though I grew up in Cincy."

"Ah," *Dorian said, having a bit of trouble following her. He knew of New York, of course, but...*
"Very interesting."
