*Faye stopped in her tracks and squinted at the man. She looked about to see if there might be anyone else he were talking to.*
"Are you...are you addressing me?" *she asked quietly, feeling a bit foolish.*
Of course he's not. There's no possible way he could see me, let alone hear me.

"Theoretically, I could be addressing any of you, with all the noise you are making," he replied, gesturing around at the surround mayhem, "but I had just been able to think of the rest of the noise in here as mere background chatter until you started whistling!"
By now, though, he didn't look angry, just extremely worn-out and rather annoyed.
"I was only trying to think of my next move. Is that so much to ask?"

"I'm...I'm sorry, but...y--you mean you can see me?" *Faye frowned.* "But you're...you're not a...a ghost, are you?"

Immediately he smiled rather horribly and said very loudly, "No! Whatever do you mean? Ghost- ha!"
He burst into a fit of laughter that rather outweighed the situation, and continued to sputter, "Ghost! Ridiculous! The conclusions people shall jump to-"
And then he stopped just as sharply, staring at her neck. "Are you... bleeding?"

*Faye drew back, a little perturbed by the strange man's capricious fits of seeming humour and anger. She pressed her hand over the gaping slit in her throat.*
"Yes."

((That laughter was supposed to be a terrible, half-assed coverup. I have a friend who does that.))
"Bandage. Yes," he said blankly. "You ought to get a bandage."

"...thank you for your, um, concern, but it won't do a bit of good. I'm already dead," *she said softly.* "I'm sorry for having bothered you."

Rather than react with confusion of fear, he took a rather dignified step backward while actually looking relieved. "Oh. That- that makes sense, I suppose."
He leaned closer again. "Is it obvious?" he whispered.

*Faye looked more than a little confused.*
"At the risk of answering in the negative--what's obvious?"

((This post pretty much sums up how awkwardly British my version of Richard is.))
"You know..."
He made a few loose gestures at himself.

"You...can see dead people?"
*Faye raised an eyebrow.*
"You might want to get that checked out."

He sighed and laughed a little, but this time it was genuine.
"Oh... Well, the good news is that I clearly do a good job at blending into the background, even if I am wearing thigh-high boots," he said, moving one of his voluminous sleeves out of the way so she could see his very medieval clothing, "but I am afraid you misunderstand. You see, I sort of... am... dead people."

*Faye cocked her head to one side, peering intently at him.*
"Really? But you're so...so..."
*she raised one semi-transparent hand and tried to touch his arm, her fingers only drifting through it as though they were made of mist. She lifted her hands and looked at them sadly.*
"And I'm like this..."

He smiled again, this time rather conspiratorially, and said, "Is it no amazing what scientific minds can produce these days?"
He reached into his dangling sleeve, which seemed to serve no real purpose save possibly storage space, and produced a small vial filled with red liquid.

*Faye looked at it with vague interest.*
"...what is it?"
